โ โ โ โ โ We popped into the Blue Boy bar/discotheque on a Saturday night in KL. admittedly we went as we were jet lagged so couldnโt sleep, and it was close to our hotel in Buket Bintang. We wanted to show some solidarity with the local LGBT+ ?๏ธโ? community in a country where it is still pretty repressed. We were pleasantly surprised. A good mix of locals and foreigners, attentive bar staff (London, you could learn a lot) and the drag show was funny (and we avoided the audience participation). It was all very tame by European standards, but it was fun. We were glad we went.

โ โ โ โ โ YASSS!!! Your quintessential KL *dive* bar with fabulous drag queens. The ladies really put on quite a show - top 40s, broadway, Whitney, Celine, you name it.. place looks great after a recent renovation. Come if you're free-spirited. Park your judgment at home.
p.s. - on Fri & Sat there are two sets of performances, at 12.30am & 1.30am. Timing is everything!

โ โ โ โ โ Love it here, itโs pricey but itโs honestly worth the entertainment. Amazing drag productions. Itโs busy of Fridays and Saturdays. Shows start at 12midnight

โ โ โ โ โ Friday night at Blue Boy. I arrived around 11 pm place was fairly quiet but picks up around midnight. A really nice bar entry fee is 38 RM around $ 12 AUD depending on exchange rate you get a free drink with entry ticket at the bar including mixed drinks which I think cost around 30 RM to buy. Asahi Japanese beer which I drank that night cost 28 RM. Drag show starts at 12:30am and was really good compare went around floor talking to people asking where they're from and having a few joke's a really enjoyable night.

โ โ โ โ โ An attractive bar. Music was good. But drag show very mediocre and starts at 12.30am. Too late for what it's worth. 30 MYR to get in. Drinks expensive really. Full of very feminine guys. Staff not very friendly and not great at mixing drinks. Not for me but may suit someone else.

โ โ โ โ โ KL doesnโt have a thriving gay night life, but this one gay, drag, show bar is an oasis in a desert.
Weekdays will be empty, whereas holidays and weekends will definitely be more active. Sometimes on random weeknights, there may be a random birthday party or something. Or if itโs really quiet, the staff will offer you to do some karaoke.
The staff doesnโt have the best English, but they will be welcoming and kind. The drag queens also are fabulous and speak quite good English.
When I went there, it was one of the queenโs birthdays, so they had a special show. The performers are funny, super kind and welcoming as well.
They even offered some of their food to me and chatted a bit. The beers are expensive by local standards, but pretty cheap by Western standards.
After a certain time, they will charge a cover, but that comes with a drink from a specific menu, which does not include imported items. Make sure to choose your beverage from that menu or you will pay significantly more.
Nothing happening before 10 there, so feel free to head in quite late. So grab a bite at the local night market. Wander, explore, shop. Then head over to watch their fabulous drag show.
