★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Encik Poh Sin Bin iaitu Pegawai Ukur Daerah Kota Setar pada waktu itu mencadangkan agar diwujudkan sebuah perpustakaan di bandar Alor Setar pada September 1957.
30 September 1961, Perpustakaan Umum Alor Setar yang berkongsi bangunan bersama Muzium Negeri telah dirasmikan oleh KDYMM Tuanku Sultan Kedah Darul Aman.
Perpustakaan telah memberi perkhidmatan kepada orang ramai mulai 2 Januari 1993.
Bangunan Perpustakaan Pusat PPAK telah dirasmikan oleh KDYMM Tuanku Sultan Kedah Darul Aman pada 8 Februari 1994.
 Encik Poh Sin Bin, Kota Setar District Survey Officer at that time proposed to create a library in Alor Setar city in September 1957.
September 30, 1961, the Alor Setar Public Library which shared the building with the State Museum was officiated by KDYMM Tuanku Sultan Kedah Darul Aman.
The Library has served the public from 2 January 1993.
The Central Library Building was officially launched by KDYMM Tuanku Sultan Kedah Darul Aman on 8 February 1994.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Such a lovely place to be and work at, very helpful and friendly librarians. Dont be deceived by the retro architecture, they also offer 3D printing services for around MYR 2/ gram if im not mistaken
They have another baby branch which is the Kedah Digital Library
