Was hoping to get the Ayam Pongtay but it is not available today. A simple restaurant specializing in home cooked nostalgia of the Chitty kitchen, a hidden gem.

This restaurant is a hidden gem that is very underrated. The only Chetti Melakan restaurant in melaka. (if you dont know what chetti melaka is , please google them) I would recommend this place cause they serve authentic food by a community that is not very known out there. Even their food is hard to get cause it is not very known by the mainstream ppl in Malaysia. Think about food that was developed over 600 years in melaka as a result of assimilation between indian traders who came during the Melaka Sultanate period and the locals. Its like consuming history! Anyways, the food is also tasty and reasonable. I feel that we should spread unique Malaysian cuisine like this.

Really glad about finding this amazing Chitty restaurant - a rare gem. Nyonya food is everywhere in Melaka but I never tried Chitty cuisine before. We had ayam cili garam, pindang telur ikan, pindang udang nanas and pindang ikan. I really liked the telur ikan and udang nanas. The gravy is creamy and full of umami savouriness. Service is nice and friendly. Their sago gula melaka is amazing - creamy fresh coconut milk with bouncy sago. Good place to hng out with friends and family.

We ordered Laok Aram Jada which is a Chitties dish and Sambal Telor Belimbing. Quite unique bitter sour taste from the aram jada, and for the sambal it has fragrant spice oomph in it similar to asam pedas. Will visit next round to try other more popular dishes. Overall is a nice space, cosy with nice lighting and music, you can also visit the middle hall for some Melaka stories on exhibit.

We came all the way from Penang just for Wenila's food, the traditional Chetti Melaka cuisine. Dining at Wen's Kitchen is so heartwarming. The luxury and decadence of the dishes are effortlessly entwined in every aspect of the experience. The sophisticated flavours and elevated interpretation of traditional Chetti Melaka dishes never fails to impress. Dining at Wen's Kitchen is an experience not to be missed for Melaka residents and visitors alike.

My order of Ayam Cili Garam set meal was yummy. It was my first time eating Chitty Melaka cuisine even though I am a Malaccan. Love the Grago Itam that came with my order. It was grago prawns cooked with shallots and it was delicious and went very well with the rice. Wen's Kitchen was geneous with the amount of chicken served. For an individual meal set of RM12, it was definitely value-for-money and very filling! I will certainly return to try out the other dishes. Thumbs up to Wen's Kitchen!

A highly recommended place to try the authentic flavorous Melaka Chitty food and only one in Melaka. We had Pindang Udang Nanas, Sambal Telur (fish roe sambal), Ikan Selar with sambal chili garam & Telur Cinchalok with refreshing ice lemon tea. The restaurant was cozy and the owner was warm and welcoming. The food are reasonably priced as well. Though it might look like an outdated place but the place is actually clean. When you dine here, all you taste bud will put to work – sour, sweet, spicy (not too spicy), salty and umami all could be taste and the aroma of the coconut milk with bring the food to live. The cuisines are prepare using heritage (authentic) recipes created almost 600 years ago. The amount of food was generous and enough to fill your tummy. And if you like to know some brief introduction of the Melaka Chitty Community – the first and oldest Peranakan (means child of land) community in Malaysia, there is a small cozy museum for you to learn and know more about the Melaka Chitty. There are also exhibits of item which where you in the past by their ancestor. Thank for the hospitality Wen and Bert.

Flavour of Chetti Melaka cuisine, tasty in all dishes. Every course was an explosion of flavours, with a wonderful combination of sweet, sour, spicy (but not excessively hot) tastes and aromas. Wenila presents the heritage recipes with passion and much love, you can taste it in her food.
