★ ★ ★ ★ ★ In Johor, I go to Johor Bahru and Batu Pahat on regular basis due to business but Muar is one town that eluded me. I used to visit this Maharani town when I was still working for my previous company back in 2002-2005 but I didn't explore it then. Plus I didn't even stop for a night here as I would always stop in JB at the end of the day.
Luck has it that my friend had to purchase something from someone in this town, and I happened to tag along - after the fruitful meeting, he brought us to this restaurant.
◾asam pedas fish - I took a sip of the broth and was instantly hooked. Spicy, sourish and very appetising
◾Otak-otak - the pride of Muar
◾Spicy seafood - prawn, squid and petai in one plate.
◾Fragrant fried egg - achievable under high heat and such a simple dish could make me happy.
◾Kangkung belacan - when it's served hot, it couldn't go wrong.
Overall it was a satisfying lunch and we headed back to KL happily.
