★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Built up a bit of a hype for myself when I found out there was chwee kueh in Muar, couldn't find it as per Maps but asked an old shop uncle who said it was down another intersection full of food shops. This was Jalan Haji Abu aka food street. There wasn't an obvious queue line as well so it was kinda free for all.
After getting 10 pieces I had to go to a coffee shop to sit down and eat, and it was a lot saltier then expected on first bite. Personally I'd prefer the one in Tiong Bahru market, Singapore.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This stall moved to a corner coffee shop. The steamed rice cakes were ordinary. It was too soft (too much water) and didn’t taste smooth. Thé condiments were too salty.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This stall has moved to 1, Jln Said Tahir 2, Pusat Perniagaan Pesta Baru, 84000 Muar, Johor (6th Ave) to a corner coffee shop. The coffee shop is open daily except for 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month hence the stall is also not open on those days.
He is one of the 2 brothers that sell Chwee Tueh (elder brother's stall is across the street from the Main Market, old pasar) but mom prefer this one. Her reason being the condiment besides the usual dried radish (菜脯), it also contains preserved mustard greens (欖菜) both important condiment in Teow Chew cuisine. This also explain the more salty comments from some other reviewers. I personally like the condiment to be on the sweeter side hence the 4 stars instead of 5 on my rating.
However price is reasonable and the uncle is very friendly. If you are in for an nolstagic breakfast in Muar, check it out! The corner coffee shop also has some other delicious food on offer. While the coffee shop open till late afternoon, the Chwee Kueh only operates till noon.
