As general populace should have known, the star on the malaysian flag, jalur gemilang - has 14 points. Which signifies 13 states plus federal territory. Malaya gained independence in 1957. Malaysia was formed in 1963. Malaysia has been using 14 pointed star on its flag ever since. But federal territory of kuala lumpur was formed later on 1974, labuan a decade later and putrajaya was the recent addition in 2001. So what does the 14th point of the star meant in those days. The 14th point was actually singapore. But later it was decided to include the federal territory into the points after singapore get out of Malaysia. Most malaysian never realized this historic fact because we are ingnorant.
