★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Firstly, it's not only the room rate is too high, many facilities out of services. For eg, water heater cannot be used, doesn't have any drinking water filter machine, hair dryer not available, water kettle also the share one but the most important issue is the stair of the 2 layer bed was broken. Besides, the sea view not very nice. For those who are looking for a cheaper room with better facilities can consider just duvet in penang but the room size will be smaller as compare to this homestay. In my opinion, it's ok to have a smaller room with better bed. For those who are planning to visit Penang. Have a nice trip?

Second night we changed rooms and we were eaten alive by BEDBUGS. We changed to another room helped by someone in the guesthouse since the owner was not there. Would not go there anymore. Still have the bites on my back...

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I had a nice stay at Baan Talay Homestay and I was pleasantly surprised that I had a view of the water from my room. I was also very happy with how quickly my hosts responded to emails. That said, the location is nowhere near most of the activities of George Town and there isn't much available to do in the neighborhood that I could see. Cleanliness of the room leaves something to be desired and the shared bathroom set up is a bit awkward.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Overall this place is comfortable and location is close to the beach but far from the life of Penang. I suggest renting a scooter as taxis and grabs can be quite costly. The beach nearby is clean and well taken care of. Our room had excellent AC plus a fan. The garden and pond is also a nice touch. Ray is a great host and will answer all your questions promptly. Access to kitchen and laundry was also a bonus. Wifi was weak.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I was received around 19hrs by Martin who was not so happy and surely could show some welcoming face but didnt. The place is so hidden i could hardly find it even by cab. Ray the owner nice on phone but never seen and cancelled my reservation coz i came at 7pm. Rooms and beds should be cleaner and could use new sheets and pillows . Internet is week and cutts off always. No bum guns in toilets. Some cockroaches and frog-noises. Generally its overpriced. Good thing is the 20m close beach but you have to think abt chairs, the washing mashine and the young house keeping guy was nice and helping.
I would show more presence and give the guests some information about every possible thing they might need. Not just hide myself in a room like they did.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A great place to stay when you are visiting Penang. It's on a quiet street only steps from the beach. The room was clean and the owner was very good about communicating with us. There is a convienance store a short walk from the place & several restaurants also within walking distance. We rented a scooter so we were able to get to the National Park & downtown Georgetown within 30 minutes.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Just like a home, you have access to the living hall and kitchen. No cooking, but you can boil water and have food if you bring any of them back. Cutlery, plates and bowls are already arranged at the counter for easy access. There is a large fridge where you can also store items. The rooms are basic and simple, air conditioned with attached bathrooms. Beds are aged and depending on the room you get, you have different bed quality. Towels are provided but not toiletries. The general upkeep of the whole space is questionable, so don't expect the same of a hotel or your own home. As it's a Balinese themed home, there are two ponds with fish and other animals, if you are a light sleeper, consider ear plugs as the frogs can get quite loud at night. The host is a very pleasant person and takes time to explain the house rules. The best part of this location is immediate access to the beach and it's convenient access to food options around the area.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We stayed at Baan Talay for 3 nights. Very pleasant stay. Quiet, clean and spacious. Right by the beach. We didn't met Ray but a very nice Swiss man with whom we could speak german with. And he was very helpful. Great living area. I liked it there very much.
