One of the best things about Penang is the way you can stumble across some really good food. It's just a matter of being prepared to explore. Sure you can get some poor food, but you take the good with the bad and make a note of which ones you like and which ones aren't worth a second visit. This was what happened to me this morning....delivering a few jars of my WA honey to an organic shop nearby, I popped across the road to fill the tummy at Cafe Sin Wah. After scoping out what hawker food was on offer I settled on a Chat Hor Fun. Well you can see below how good it looks. That gravy is as good as it looks...lovely and tasty and the seafood was delicious.(prawns and two types of fish) no chicken in this. I paid rm5.50 and washed it down with Kopi o. I'm told that the Hokkien Prawn Mee here is famous too. Apparently this place is packed on weekends.

The fake shark fin soup is the speciality here. Together with the fried Hor fun. Extra could b fried dory fish. N some small shrimp. Usual mid-afternoon crowd. Friendly atmosphere.

The fish cake inside char hor fun is superb!! Hokien mee taste good but portion is relatively small. Coffee wise is ok. Only downside is that the coffee shop is quite "old".

The place is like old style kopi tiam with many variety of foods. Is better if you can speak hokkien because most of them were old timers chef only understand hokkien. Environment not so hygiene because the lady cooking char kueh teow just scrap the wok and it was all over the floor. Order did not follow FIFO (First Order, Firt Get) because I think it was first day of CNY and she was short-handed. Price in creased by 0.50 cent during CNY. Product not up to my standard ( tasteless) CKT. Service poor. Maybe due too many orders.

Have eaten it for a while now. One of my favourite charred hor fun places with very shiok "wok hei" taste. Dish are rather simple, comprising charred hor fun, slices of pork, prawns, Fried fish fillets(superb) and green leafy chai sim (Chinese mustard). Add the eggs to the thick gravy and smooth them. Recommended if you’re in the area.
