β β β β β Flight KA730 from KLIA to HKG, 04 Dec 2019.
Flight scheduled to depart at 0820, According to Cathay Dragon/Pacific policy their counter agents should be present 4 hours prior to the first flight. The staff arrived to begin check in at 0530, 70 minutes late. When Cathay began check ins they practiced business as usual and processed all the priority passengers first despite the fact that there were about 100 coach passengers waiting. When I questioned why they couldn't process coach passengers as well they just company policy sorry. So it looks like company policy is to be late to work then forget adapting to the situation.
After boarding flight and taking our seats the kind gentleman behind me decided to start driving his knees in to the back of my seat so hard that it broke the seat and the flight attendant had to force the seat upright when landing. Another kind gentleman decided to blast music on his cell phone so loudly that you could hear it across half the plane. I had to ask the flight attendants to deal with both situations. It turns out the nice gentleman behind me was in the wrong seat to begin with and wanted to sit behind me to talk to his pals who were now angry with me for making their friend move so they harassed my family the entire flight.
When it was time for refreshments the only thing we were offered is the in flight meal. We were skipped over because a travel group on the plane were running the attendants ragged so they had no time to serve the other customers patiently waiting for service so many of had very little service for the flight I really had to laugh at the end of the flight when the recording said that they hoped we enjoyed the in flight service.
We will pay extra to avoid Cathay Pacific in the future.
We would like to thank the considerate passengers on the flight for their patience at the end and allowed us off ahead of them because they understood that we had a truly awful experience and we wanted to exit the plane ASAP.
