Pokok Cempedak merupakan pokok saka yang boleh mencapai ketinggian sehingga 20 meter. Ia mempunyai daun ringkas yang kebanyakkannya berbentuk elliptik. Bahagian bawah urat daun (midrib) biasanya dipenuhi dengan bulu-bulu halus. Pangkal daun berbentuk tirus hingga obtus manakala hujung daun kebanyakkannya berbentuk kupsidat. Bahagian atas daun berwarna hijau tua manakala bahagian bawah daun berwarna hijau muda. Terdapat varieti cempedak di mana permukaan atas daun dikatakan sedikit malap manakala terdapat varieti di mana ia kelihatan berkilat. Pokok Cempedak hampir menyerupai pokok Nangka. Perbezaannya jelas pada hujung tangkai daun di mana pada cempedak terdapat bulu-bulu halus berwarna coklat dihujung tangkai daun manakala pada nangka tiada bulu halus ditemui.

Cempedak tree is a perennial tree that can reach a height of up to 20 meters. It has short leaves that are mostly elliptical. The lower part of the vein (midrib) is usually filled with fine feathers. The leaves are tapered to obtus while the ends of the leaves are mostly capsidate. The upper leaves are dark green while the lower leaves are green. There are powdery varieties where the upper surface of the leaf is said to be slightly darker while there are varieties where it looks shiny. Cempedak tree almost resembles a jackfruit tree. The difference is clear at the ends of the leaflets where in the lungs there are fine brown feathers at the ends of the leaf and in the case where no fine feathers are found.
