Been a real pleasure studying here, I'm glad to meet people who are likeminded and learned a lot from tutors

This is a good academy to study in, but honestly speaking, unless you're an illustration prodigy of sorts, I strongly advise learning and practicing things like 1st Point Perspective, 2nd Point Perspective, Colour Studies, Skeleton Form, Body Proportion etc (Throw Autodesk Maya basics and tools in as well if you're not good at understanding 3D Softwares) beforehand before you enroll into this academy. The lecturers do teach you the basics ("No art basic? No problem!" - Claz'room website intake enrollment subtitle), but given you'll be dumped quite the number of long terms assignments and short term assignments which you're expected to hand in within 14 weeks of the entire Foundation Semester (not factoring assignments which has to be handed in within a week or long-term assignments that has to be handed in before the final weeks) in high quality (otherwise you won't score well), you will feel very pressured to live up to expectations (and possibly end up freezing up in panic and not make progress at all our of fear, which I've personally experienced numerous times no matter how many times I tried). I could go into more details about the issues I have about the hurdle students have to go through in Foundation (ESPECIALLY for those specifically not thinking of taking the 2D Illustration course. I personally feel the Foundation Semester for non-Film Production students is oddly focused on preparing students much more for 2D Illustration subjects more than it really prepares you for 3D Animation/Game Design lessons for no discernible reasons), but I have broke past the character limit halfway when writing it. In short, this IS a good college to get into, please don't misunderstand. However, studying before enrolling beforehand is a good choice to make if you're not confident in your skills to keep up (not really helped by the Perspective/Figure Drawing lecturer oftentimes unintentionally egging you to deliver an assignment of high quality levels for a student who only just gotten started on the assignment they're or they won't earn good marks) in the studies.

A very mediocre experience with a not-so-affordable price tag. The school boasts about being more 'chill' than TOA and perhaps that's the only thing they get to boast about. Their official emails and announcements have glaringly obvious typos that their administrative staff don't even bother to check. This should already be a sign about how poorly things are handled. The lecturers in Clazroom are skilled but their attitude is atrocious. There are some kind and thoughtful lecturers who would do their best to assist students, but the rest are mostly bias with personal agendas. They only pay attention to students whose work they can slip into their personal portfolios and they leave the weaker students behind to trip over themselves. You can't even submit a feedback without your info being leaked to the entire department even though they promised you everything is P&C. Now every lecturer knows you expressed your unsatisfactory opinion on another lecturer :) Their school system is like how Facebook/Twitter/Youtube makes changes to their user interface/QoL WITHOUT the opinion of a user itself. Students complain about it but they don't do anything because they firmly believe it's the right thing to do. I understand they're trying to rebrand as the chill, cool, not-TOA institution but this only makes them stand out as the girl who says 'I'm quirky and not like other girls'.

I'd like to say this college is a real miracle amongst other well-advertised colleges outside, it provides a comfortable environment to learn art and i found myself enjoying the hardships it provided along the way. The lecturers here are some of the most hard-working, patient and passionate people I've ever met throughout learning art from other people; going as far as lecturing beyond their designated time and giving one on one sessions when requested. So far I have not experienced any ego-trailing or demoralizing speeches from the lecturers here as they have all been very supportive and understanding of student situations. The students here are very well behaved for the large majority maybe save for a few some that I've heard of. They are respectful towards each other and everyone's a passionate soul within the Claz community. There have definitely been many setbacks ever since the pandemic but that does not derail all the good this college provides. As for some of the reviews that regarded the toxicity or hurdles the course provides, I think if you have the heart and will to go through putting extra effort to learn the skills that require compensation, there will be improvements to be made and seen. I think no college will ever be perfect and saying this college provides a toxic environment dismisses the other side of the community of students. They provide discord channels to speak your mind and talk your situations through so as long as you make use of that, miscommunications and rumors are not bound to happen easily. Here's to hoping for a fruitful future for Claz'room academy!

WHAT IS NEEDED TO MAKE LIFE EASIER: Being able to understand Chinese Know how to draw well Never ever come and study here if you are not really super committed to art. Having practiced drawing before would help a lot in the long run here, and keep practicing outside class hours. People new to drawing wouldn't fare well, and its not worth the super high prices to keep on failing subjects and semesters(at least 5k a sem). Laziness, plagiarism, and stealing are strictly looked down upon here. Have decent respect and humanity when it comes to creating art. It's better to be honest about being bad at art than it is to copy somebody else's art and call it yours. Management here is meh and ruins the experience here. They called a sudden halt to their hostel services here in March, and so many students are left to find living areas on their own with the help of an agent, and this area is not friendly for students at all. Almost all questions we asked are met with insufficient answers, and we got blamed for overwhelming the management. The pandemic and the management's handling of the situation didn't help at all.

I'm writing this as an alumni of the school and my experience. The academy has good and comfortable environment. But if you are an introvert, you will feel left out or outnumbered by rumors, gossip and politics in the academy itself. There are good lecturers in the school that will help you in your weakest point but there are some who will just embarrass or make you feel more worse of yourself in front of the whole class. Favoritism is quite strong in this school. Courses itself, there are some that will offer better way to help to improve the subject but there are some who will want the student to follow how they do 100% instead of encouraging the students own art style or finding another way to help the student get better in art. After graduation, I had to look into alternative to improve my own art where I have to learn everything from scratch ( Foundation to Art styles). Would I recommend this academy? If you want the diploma to help you in your future and sit through the things that I mentioned? Sure, just make sure to learn art from other source as well. I know the academy's system will not change even if this review is up but this is for people out there who doesn't want their time wasted or experience what I've experience.
