โ โ โ โ โ my car is having loud cranking noise. they isolate the issue for me, remove v-belt check the noise, remove valve cover to see any damage gear, remove oil pan n found broken nut. the issue solved by remove timing chain cover and replace timing chain guide and tensioner. satisfy and engine no more cranking noise.

โ โ โ โ โ After having visited this workshop several times, I came across some unpleasant experience which I like to share here. Towards the end of last year, after having sent my car for a regular service, I was told by the head mechanic that the engine oil was leaking. Indeed after a few days there were traces of fresh engine oil at my car porch (which before there was none!!). I was not convinced and checked if there was any shortage of engine oil. There was none. And I checked again a few weeks later, and again the engine oil level was fine. I later discovered that there was some oil left on top of the transmission mounting which was located in the mid section of the engine. This explained where the "leak" was coming from. I then washed away the oil and to date (6 months later), there is absolutely no more oil traces on the floor or on any part of the engine. I suspect the oil was placed there intentionally to trick one into believing that there's a leak. So as the vehicle moved, the oil spilled over the mounting and flow down the floor when parked. Guys, I'm sharing this so as to help others not to be cheated. If you're a frequent customer there, then be careful. You cannot trust your mechanic entirely. PLEASE BE EXTRA CAREFUL OR YOU COULD BE CHEATED. Get a 2nd opinion from another mechanic before deciding to spend on repairs. Or better still move away to a new shop.
*Whoever mechanic you go to, please make a point to ask to return any old part/s replaced, as proof of an honest job done. Then dispose off those old parts somewhere else and never leave them at the shop.
