โ โ โ โ โ Dr Chong. Treat others the way you want to be treated. Sad that it took 70+ years for you to come across this saying. You said it is rude for pointing oneโs finger at the paper, but if you ever have the basic ability of self reflection, were you being polite to your patient in the first place?
You may be the best doctor in Malaysia, with your glory past, excellent academic achievements throughout universities, vast experience in the field, insightful in bringing in foreign technology in 1980-ish.
BUT
A student stops learning when he stops reading. Likewise, A doctor who refuses to listen to the patient has failed his patients. Not so impressed when my mother, the patient, was being sent out the room for her inability to speak English. And you said you sent her out because she was interrupting. Doesnโt communication comes from both ways? As an example, after walked out your room, we were taken to another doctor. Five minutes in, and he asked questions and got the information that actually my mom has been taking supplement that contains collagen. This is a critical piece of information. We have been in your room for hours, why did you failed to extract this crucial information from your very patient while the other doctor managed to get in within minutes? If not for that doctor, as a lay person, we would never know collagen has such impact on the body.
Before you said someone was rude, were you not?
You are already a great doctor in term of knowledge, Iโm not lecturing you on that. But I am teaching you the art of respect. Which brings us back to the starting point, โTreat others the way you want to be treated.โ
