It is a combination of few former schools in Universiti Malaysia Perlis such as School of Computer and Communication, School of Microelectronics and the Electronic Engineering Technology Department of Engineering Technology Faculty and Biomedical Electronic Engineering Program from School of Mechatronic Engineering. The Dean's Office and the main office of the faculty are in the former School of Microelectronic Engineering. Apart from this, the faculty has another two administration buildings which are in the former School of Manufacturing Engineering and in Unicity Campus, Sungai Chuchuh. Currently, 277 academic staffs are teaching in this Faculty with over 2400 undergraduate students and more than 300 postgraduate students make it the largest Faculty in UniMAP.
D	Dr. Rizal on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The School of Microelectronic Engineering (SoME) was established in 2002 and was the earliest school formed in UniMAP. Currently, SoME offers undergraduate degree & also postgraduate programmes. The programmes offered are Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Microelectronic Engineering), Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Electronic Engineering) and Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Photonic Engineering). Postgraduate programmes include the Master of Science (Microelectronic Engineering) and Ph.D (Microelectronic Engineering). SoME is unique in its owns sense with its cleanroom laboratory facility. This cleanroom is the only cleanroom in Malaysia where students are exposed to the cleanroom environment at an early stage. This exposure gives an advantage to SoME students compared to students from other universities. Based on the feedback given by the industry, students from SoME are able to handle equipment available in the industry particularly in the semiconductor industry. Therefore it is no doubt that students graduating from SoME are easily accepted into the industry prior to their graduation.
