★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My favorite pan mee in all of Malaysia! Yes, I’ve had great pan mee in KL, but this place takes the cake. But that may just be due to the fact that this place offers a crazy spicy option, something that I haven’t come across at any other pan mee shop. The Volcano noodles are the reason this place gets a 5, and I’ll tell you why: the spice is NO NONSENSE, the squid ink noodles are bouncy and perfectly cooked, and the ikan bilis/ground pork/fish ball combo is an umami bomb in your mouth! A must-try if you are in JB, Grandma Ong is the Queen of Pan Mee!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ One of the few places in JB that serves good consistent quality Mee Hoon Kueh or Pan Mee. It’s not easy to find pan mee in Johor in comparison to KL. For this place, the pan mee ( machine cut noodle) taste better than their Mee Hoon Kueh (Hand torn noodle) as they are abit on the thick side and rather starchy when eaten.
Overall flavour is good and the highlight of this shop is their sambal which is so fragrant and too die for.
But I waited 30 minutes approx for my orders to arrive...

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Thos is my 2nd time I visited Grandma Ong. Surprisingly there are many noodles varieties to choose from. I ordered the standard noodle dish and it tasted good. No wonder Grandma Ong is always so crowded ?

1. Dry mee hoon kueh - A lot of toppings such as fish balls, meat balls, mani cai, fried anchovies, mushroom and minced meat, noodles are cooked perfectly, Tasted average 2. Chrysanthemum tea - Average
3. Cheese tofu - Amazing
4. Service - Normal
5. Serving time - 15 mins
6. Affordability - RM15 for medium set, a bit pricy
7. Atmosphere - Clean and air-conditioned

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Worst noodles I ever had. Salty and barely taste anything else. The pork skillet too sweet and the worst thing is I found dead snail in the noodles. so I threw it right away althoughI ate half already. (take-away because we are still in mco). I have doubt on their food safety and hygiene. Yuck! Never again... ?
