★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If you are in Kluang and have not tried this Asam Pedas, you have not really been to Kluang. The steamed egg is less than RM$5 and is a must try. The fried belt fish is like a starter snack. Asam Pedas secret recipe was from Muar, and very delicious. Great traditional food!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Average food. Not the best asam pedas fish I had. Its a watery base asam fish dish. They serve otak-otak too. But my preference is more to grill otak - otak and savory thick asam pedas nyonya fish style. Thus this review is based on my own preference.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Long wait and average tasting food.
We ordered an asam pedas fish dish and sambal petai.
We waited for close to 40 minutes
The fish texture was great but the gravy was not. There was wayyy tooo much tamarind in there, it was all I could taste. And the sambal petai had literally no sambal. There were just fried onions. Even after enquiring about the missing sambal, they insisted the order was right.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The restaurant is clean and tidy. The design of the restaurant is simple but practical
The owner is honest and friendly businessman. He learn his asam pedas cooking skill in Muar many years ago...
This is 1ofthe oldest asam pedas restaurant in Kluang.
They fanous for asam pedas fish but however also good at sambal petai or fried vegetables n other local chinese dishes.
The services are ok.
The price is value for money

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We had dinner as a group of 9 during our church retreat here. Beside the otak and crispy fish, I think the star on the menu is the ikan asam pedas with its balanced taste of asam, sweetness, saltiness and spiciness. It is comparable with a similar memorable dish I tried in Malacca. Prices are reasonable as they are not touristic and cater mainly to the pockets of locals.
You can reach here by grab taxi from the city centre ( About RM5).

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Old school style food. The Assam fish is unique in taste and the fish us fresh worth it. Ordered other food as well like otah, sotong, veggie. Good quality and the price is reasonable for Singaporean... In fact is value for money.
Service is good.. air conditioned... Fast .
Decor of restaurant is typical but clean.
It's was not easy to find cos the sign board does not say gwee lek.
