★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Midlands is only a fraction of what it used to be when we first came to Penang nearly 20 years ago. It has a few surviving businesses that we continue to frequent. Calvin's Car Accessories & Milly Goh art/picture framing, both on 1st floor are 2 that we have been patronizing for years. KFC is about the only food outlet. There is still a tech shop & a couple pharmacies on the ground floor as well as some clothing outlets. Parking is easy.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ -Came here when Popular Bookstore open for 2 weeks annually-
It's a dying mall in Penang, back in 90s, it was on par with Komtar back then (when both have high class shops), now only approximately 20% occupancy with mostly occupied at Ground floor and outdoor mall.
At least they still have security working here

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Quite empty and silent inside, not an active place, but my recommendation for food here is Sam Hui Cafe on Level 2, where you get to eat awesome mixture of Western and Oriental meals, plus it is not expensive.
If you're toy collector, Toy Panic shop is inside the building Level 4.
The lift is quite weird as it operates to only Level 3 and 5 if you want to go up from basement carpark.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Old style mall, very few shops still open but there are a couple of treasures. Good, cheap, coffee and curry puffs at the satay hit. Worth half an hour wander.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A shell of its former glory, I remember a time this place was a popular hang out spot for young and old. What used to be the one of the shopping spot for Penang is now a empty shell, with only very few selection of shops and restaurants notting more. But the only good side of it is that it brings a good nostalgia.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It looks like a faded mall but it has some really nice businesses within. Great cafe, HK Photo, and an excellent computer store are my favourites. Plenty of clothing stores and gift shops. Parking is a snap.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Its one of crowded shopping before those gurney drive shopping mall came along. Still remember me and my wife having a stage performing over some competition on the ground floor during the mid 90s. Anyway, its we won some good price. Use to get some imported cereals and Taiwanese noodles etc. love it ...Lets make progress, Penangese.
