FOR NEW CUSTOMERS, read my review before reserving a table here. I just don't want you to regret your decision for having an unsatisfied meal and bad experience. tq. -8 May 2022 Today is Mother's day and also a weekend, it's understandable that every where will be packed. Tonight's dinner is just a horrible experience. I'm not sure if it's the same as other days. My grandparents wanted to eat JADE PALACE as we often went there to have our dinner during special days or celebrations. We went to Gurney Paragon branch and Choo Plaza branch before and their service and hospitality were very good but sadly, now only left 1 branch and they moved here. We booked a table for 7 pax a day before in the evening. When we arrived, it was not stated in the reservation list or maybe they misheard the name for the reservation. We told the FOH(front of house) about it and was asked to wait to be seated. A wedding dinner was also held there and the place was like a full house. We decided to leave as it would take some time to have our dinner here but the lady in charge insisted to let us have a table, okay fine, we decided to stay for dinner. The place was so hot and loud because of the wedding dinner held there, like in the same space as us, not involving nor related to them. We arrived at this place around 7:30pm and waited for like 5-10mins to be seated, ordered 5 dishes and waited for almost 2 hours to have our dinner to be done. Our dishes weren't served together on time but like 2 dishes up, then waited for around 1 hour. We wanted to just cancel the remaining dishes and leave but the lady came over to asked us to be seated as our next 2 dishes were already otw here. It was already 9pm, we had to quickly eat and cancelled the other one and leave because it was just a waste of time not worth RM200++ for that experience tbh.The place often black-out and it's already hot enough, will it be comfortable for customers to eat in the dark at night? how will your chefs cook in the dark? and etc. Okay so, to the person in charge or whoever managing this branch, I'm a customer and I hope you understand where I'm going. If you think your service crew and BOH(back of house) can handle the loaded customers and orders coming, I hope you think twice if there's a wedding dinner. When we were about to leave, we saw the service crews very 'kelam-kabut' meaning in chaotic with the dishes ready to be served but not sure which one because it's very confusing for them. TBH, it's not only us that went through that experience, there are also few customers from different tables complaining about taking so long for their dishes to be served. they waited for 3 HOURS longer and not ALL of their dishes were even served yet. I hope you don't blame your service crews and BOH as they are only taking orders. The person in charge or managing the restaurant should be ashamed for their mismanagement. Find a solution for the black-out, probably because too much electricity used, idk. Jade Palace name is going down, the food isn't that great anymore, it's not the same as before. I'm just disappointed and no longer wish to have my family dinner here. TQ.

Price - expensive Portion - large Taste of dim sum - 5/5 Taste regular dishes - 3/5 Space - 5/5 Carpark - 5/5 Afew areas of improvement 1. To let us know when food is out of stock ahead. Cause we were left waiting quite awhile for 3 more dishes, not realising it was out of stock until we followed up. 2. Some dishes weren't that great. Like the duck noodles which was too salty. The fried rice was quite soggy and oily. Radish cake could have been better if the skin was crispier.

Really Unkind and rude old lady staff at dinner time. Cashier does not know price nor system. I dont understand why young cashier who does knows nothing is at counter. This restaurant charges higher price for pecking duck and explained that price in menu is not changed. I suggest that staff needs to explain it when customer orders at table. Also even at counter, before I asked, no one expalined that price is different from menu. Compared pecking duck served from jade palace at gurney paragon, food itself and service is much worse. Previously, restaurant staff served it properly serving egg roll, wrapped by themselves and asked cooking style for rest of pecking duck to choose. But now, egg roll is replaced to cheap flour roll, customer needs to wrap by themselves. Also, duck is cooked with sauce not served as flesh without sauce.

Jade Palace has been around for >40 years and at its peak has 4 branches in Penang and Sungai Patani. It has since consolidated its operations in Georgetown at the Northam Road seafront. Always known as good wedding venue and good Chinese food. While a lot of restaurants have increased their course dinner sets to above RM800 per table, Jade Palace still has packages below RM500. The 2-style fish is the highlight, so is the seafood porridge. Although this location is supposedly named after the dim sum they sell before 300pm, did not try it.

Overall meal was quite good (dinner on the 2nd day of Chinese New Year) The best dish among all is the steamed tiger grouper… Fish was fresh, and the sauce was fragrant and well-balanced.. The abalone and mushroom were nice as well… Good service by a young waiter ?? he tried his best to fulfil our requests (photo-taking, storing cake, setting up karaoke etc…) It was a good dinner with them

i grew up having good memories of this restaurant but the dinner we had was a total disappointment .. food was NOT up to the standard and portion was not adequate for the amount of people we paid for, yet the captain was defensive and insisted that they did serve us the portion that was due... RM18 for a small pathetic bowl of 'shark fin' / fishmaw soup (not even a complete bowl with not much ingredients..please look at the photo), they chopped our pork ribs into small pieces (yet had the guts to still give us gloves so we can eat with our hands), the mushroom vegetable dish which is usually served ''very nicely arranged like a flower'' was served to us looking as if they just pour them out from the wok, looking pretty miserable and trying to look 'large' but sorry to say, it was not enough for the extra portion we paid for (yet still being defensive) and the fish's presentation was the worst (so not appetizing, and looked so cheap) for such an expensive dish.... service was rather slow and we waited for some time for the food to be served only to have such bad experiences. i dont usually give such bad review, but this was totally a HUGE disappointment and leaving us so unhappy on an auspicious chinese new year occasion... even if things are expensive, there is a limit to things... worse is the 'dishonesty' and defensive attitude....it would have been really better if they had apologized and told us beforehand that there WERENT enough ribs, then chopped our pork ribs to pieces (without informing us) and insisted it was THE SAME... obviously it isnt the same experience when we see the next table enjoying the ribs as it is... i thought we were just plain unlucky but reading the latest reviews of other patrons and their bad experiences, i guess the restaurant really need to do some serious reflection.. it is NOT even full to say that they are overly buzy..probably that is why it was not even full .... will we ever come back (there are actually 5 families)? obviously no...

Notwithstanding to semi open-air environment (it's gonna get hot at noon) the food here is very good! Loved their dim sum dishes as all of them hit the mark ??

This is the first time here. Food ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Service ⭐⭐⭐ Parking ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Environment ⭐⭐⭐ Went at evening for dinner. Waiters are friendly. We are not sure why all ordered dishes have arrived except one... Mango kerabu crispy chicken. We have almost finished those dishes and only inform the waiter then only they realise still missing one... Overall still a fine experience.
