The history of health services in the country dates back to before independence. The construction of the hospital was to treat workers in the tin ore industry. Every mine worker has to pay 50 cents a year to get treatment. As the tin ore industry expanded rapidly in Perak, by the end of the 19th century the country had the most hospitals of 15. The hospitals are Taiping Hospital, Teluk Intan, Tapah, Sg. Siput, Slim River, Sri Manjung, Selama, Parit Buntar, Kuala Kangsar, Kampar, Ipoh, Greece, Changkat Melintang, Elephant Stone and Cape Rambutan. In 1880, Taiping Hospital, one of the oldest hospitals in the country, was built and was known as Yeng Wah Hospital. Taiping Hospital also made history as the first hospital to be equipped with x-ray facilities after several months of being introduced to the public by its creator Prof. W.C Roentgen. In addition to the establishment of hospitals, trends of infectious diseases such as malaria and berries, which frequently led to the establishment of the Institute of Medical Research (IMR) in 1900. The existence of the IMR was intended to study the cause of this infectious disease and ways to control infections especially tropical diseases . After independence, the government's focus was on improving the socio-economy of the rural population. At the time of independence in 1957, the country had 65 hospitals. Since the country gained independence, the Ministry has shown remarkable success in the care of Malaysians. During the 20 years of independence (1957 - 1977), the development of national healthcare focused on the process of developing and upgrading existing health services. This is where the Great Health Center, the Small Health Center, the Midwife and the Clinic started. The Ministry of Health also played a role in the recovery of social issues and community development, so the Department of Social Welfare was placed under the Ministry of Health for two separate periods from 1956 to 1957 and 1960 to 1962. During the merger period, the Ministry became known as The Ministry of Health and Social Welfare with its first minister was B. Dato 'VT Sambanthan (1957 - 1959). But from 1963 the ministry was renamed the original Ministry of Health Malaysia with the fourth minister, Y.B. Dato 'Abdul Rahman Talib (1962 - 1964) whose name continues to this day. The Ministry of Health Malaysia will continue to grow with increasing number of health facilities each year. The ministry is also the reference of neighboring countries in various medical technologies and methods such as the field of Cardiology and Geriatrics. Today the Ministry of Health's focus is broadening especially on providing quality, affordable and quality health facilities. These developments are in line with changing health patterns, the development of globalized health technologies and liberalization in line with the changing patterns of disease, environmental health and technological developments worldwide.

Aku ni jarang complain tapi yg ni pengecualian. Pukul 5.45 pagi, telefon nombor kecemasan tak diangkat, ketuk pintu rumah staff dekat belakang klinik kena marah pulak katanya "jangan ketuk pintu rumah, buat orang terkejut". Pergi KK Rengit baru ada orang. Sorry to say but if u can't serve the people, don't live off taxpayers money.
I rarely complain but this is the exception. At 5.45 in the morning, the emergency number was not picked up, knocking on the door of the staff's house near the back of the clinic got angry and said "don't knock on the door, make people surprised". Go KK Rengit, there are new people. Sorry to say but if u can't serve the people, don't live off taxpayers money. Against all odds we ni marhaen je continue not to be served.
