Attended a 10 days meditation retreat here, August 2018. It was a very good experience, very chill place and very friendly dhamma servers. I'm from Penang and it took me about an hour to come here, they provided places to park our car. The 10 days experience was a total bliss and I definitely know and understand myself better and also cleanse most of my past negative thoughts. Coming out having a fresh mind was one of the benefits and also I am now more aware that life is constantly changing and everything is impermanent. Besides that, after this 10 days meditation retreat, I also learned how to utilise our mind to use it to focus on doing one thing at a time, rather than keep got distracted. I will definitely visit this place again, my next sitting here will be on 7th of August 2019. Looking forward to come here again!

Arrived from Singapore via bus from Golden Mile Tower to Penang Bus Sentral, Butterworth and took a GRAB directly to the Vipassana course site with another participant. The ride cost 36ringgit however, the driver complained there’s no customers to pick up on the journey back and asked for more so we did. Alternatively, an hour bus ride from Penang Sentral, Butterworth on bus 62 cost only 3.80ringgit and the bus arrives on scheduled timings. The site is nestled on a slightly steep climb, surrounded by a quiet kampung and greenery. I attended a 10-day Course from 7Aug-18Aug. The facilities have everything I need. There’s hangers, pegs and sunny areas to hang laundry. They have kindly provided washing powder and pails too. There’s a heater providing hot water for shower or washing. There are 6 toilets with shower facility for ladies. The windows are all mosquito-netted so when we sleep at night, there were no mosquito problem even without blanket. Every room is equipped with a fan with adjustable settings. Curtains provided to offer privacy between you and your roommates. Hairdryers for ladies to blow dry our hair. I am truly amazed at what they provide despite the size of this facility and though I brought little, I found myself using even lesser. The food too, served buffet-style was good and left me with zero cravings. I was initially worried I may crave for food I liked there but I didn’t and was very satisfied even though dinner was only a fruit. On day 3, I became accustomed to sleeping with a light stomach, which felt good. The volunteer servers were very kind and always there to try and meet our needs on the site. There’s also no need for alarm clocks or watches as a gong would sound out multiple times to signal the beginning and end of programs during the day. There’s a long series of gentle gongs at 4am to encourage us to wake up. For the 10-Days, although the meditation was challenging, the kind encouragement and guidance of S.N Goenka and teacher Mr Ricardo helped me to complete the course. I was initially very apprehensive about my ability to meditate for 10 days but I realised with patience and kindness, it is possible. I begin the course miserable, broken and confused and emerged much lighter, stronger and filled with clarity about issues which has bothered me for years. I regretted taking 5 years to attend this course but am very glad I did. now I am considering attending more 10-day courses in future. When the course ended, an angel Mr Ong drove multiple trips to drop many of the participants at the Kulim Bus station, saving us a trip. Although a small centre, so much warmth and love has gathered at the same time in this tiny place, it’s truly amazing.
