โ โ โ โ โ Wow what a unique experience! This restaurant combines cooking lessons, history, and great food. A fusion in a restaurant that I could finally call perfect. The feeling in the restaurant truly made me feel like I was prepared a home cooked meal with very warm and welcoming hosts who were all in fact, family. Highly recommend it to anyone who wants to experience a fresh take on a new culinary venture.

โ โ โ โ โ Be warned: This is not a typical commercial dining venue. It is a residential place for the owner who with his mother and wife, co-prepare the Peranakan food to serve their guests.
This is a place for experience and education, NOT for you to hold dinner party.
Apart from the history of strait chinese inhabitants, you do get the finest Peranakan food here.
Recommended number of diner: no more than 6.
A great venue to host your foreign friends.

โ โ โ โ โ Great private kitchen, great food, and a great host, Baba Jay. This place has full of history and each dish is explained and I learned a lot about nyonya cuisine and Straits Chinese history. The dinner is special and a great place to visit.
We had the 8 course meal and just loved it. You eat here for conversation, friendship, refined Asian cuisine, history and culture. It costs much more than typical street food but worth it and compared to western standards, what we received from the dinner is much, much more than what we paid for.
This is one of those memorable meals.

โ โ โ โ โ Great restaurant and learnt so much history about Nyonya food and their culture! Owner is also a great historian and tells us why he opened the restaurant. A great experience that is a little expensive but well worth it. The place itself should be heritage listed and just the decor and setup is well worth the money. Three sarongs as gifts for a 6 people dinner (and also taught us how to use it) and a lesson in making your own nasi ulam (properly), so entertaining! Love it!

Baba Jay gives a history of his family and the food.
You are there to have a variety of tastes of different dishes. You get stories of the recipes and the ingredients that go with it.
All in all, a very interesting evening.

โ โ โ โ โ Recommended for whom have interested to know the history of Baba Nyonya. This is the house of the owner Baba Jay and his family. The foods is authentic and delicious , not a big portion but we felt full after the full course , included 8 different side dishes, 5 main dishes, 1 soup and 2 desserts for each of us. You will learn more about the herbs and spices that they use in the foods and how refined the nyonya prepare the food for their guest.

Not only enjoy the food but also make your own Nyonya cuisine.
This is a family managed restaurant so you can listen to the story behind their family. I sincerely recommend this restaurant. 150 RM/person for 16 courses and must be booked in advance.
