โ โ โ โ โ A unique and lovey dining experience. I canโt pinpoint the food style. And I assume itโs a mix from many cultures (much like Malaysia) what I can say is itโs delicious. From the presentation to the vintage cutlery itโs lovely and unique. But most importantly the food is really tasty. And of very high quality.

โ โ โ โ โ Contemporary colonial dishes was how the serve staff describe the type of food served. We were there on the invitation and treat of good friends and could hardly contain our excitement. The duck, chicken, fish and beef Wellington were done exceptionally well. The appetisers, as shown in photos here, stood out for the myriad dressings. The place took up three old and narrow shophouses, and became an opportunity for me to experience the narrowness of an old house.

โ โ โ โ โ We had a great time at Malaya Dining Room, a restaurant that offers a fusion of Malay, British and South Indian food, creating a unique concoction of the taste of Malaysia's history. All for just rm110 per pax (3 course meal includes an appetiser, main, 2 sides and a dessert).
For the appetiser, we had the red snapper and chicken roulade. Both were good but the real stars were the sauces and condiments that came with along as well as the charcoaled grilled bread sticks. A great starter overall. Next for the mains, we had the fruits of the sea and the captain's chicken. Both were amazing and the captain's chicken especially was able to capture a lot of flavour into what is ordinarily just shredded chicken slices.
For the sides, we had the red rice (great and can feed 2 pax), beetroot acar (nice but slightly heavier on taste), marinated tomato salad (fresh and a good complement to the heavy proteins we had), chargrilled vegetables (good).
For dessert, we had the Hutton mess as well as the Tropic Tart. Both were nice but very sweet. We would suggest either of these two only if you have a sweet tooth.
Overall, it was an amazing experience and we'll definitely come again.

โ โ โ โ โ The food is amazing. The chef has put together a fusion menu which satiates the tastebuds from the appetizers to main course and desserts. Met the chef who is a young guy totally passionate about his cooking.

โ โ โ โ โ Really enjoyed our meal here. The jams and paneer were lovely (maybe look at selling jars of them?) The main was also really good, great lamb with mint sauce. We weren't as keen on our dessert, didn't like the addition of marshmallows and wasn't enough meringue. But overall was just what we were after!

โ โ โ โ โ Absolutely delightful. The food is a feast for all your senses and it's not anything we have tastes before. The food has been inspired by British colonial Asian cuisine and brought to life by the chef at Malaya dining room. The plates are all from pre 1950s to add to the experience. Definitely a must try.

โ โ โ โ โ Quite lovely. There are plenty of Euro-Asian fusion attempts out there, but seldom do they feel so effortless as here. Although the flavours are not breaking any new ground, they just kind of "work". The tamarind fish especially was wonderfully seasoned. At 110rm for a three set menu it is value for your money for sure. Decent cocktail menu as well.
