★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Masjid yang masih wujud dan dapat disaksikan lagi pada hari ini di Bandar Chukai, Kemaman, adalah salah sebuah masjid paling tua yang wujud di Terengganu. Lokasi masjid ini adalah berhampiran Sungai Limbong dan berada di Kampung Tuan dalam Bandar Chukai.
2. Dengan saiz 9.14 meter x 9.14 meter dan mempunyai tingkap bersaiz 60 sentimeter tanpa pintu ini, dibina hanya dari sebatang kayu cengal dari kawasan hutan berhampiran di zaman awal pembukaannya.
3. Menurut salah seorang waris keturunan ini, Wan Jaafar bin Wan Hassan bin Syeikh Abdul Samad. Beliau adalah generasi ke empat dari keturunan pembina masjid tersebut. Menurutnya, masjid ini asalnya ialah sebuah surau yang dibina bagi tujuan penyebaran agama dan pusat tasauf bagi penduduk setempat di Kemaman.
4. Menurut cerita, masjid ini dibina dalam tahun 1830 oleh Syeikh Abdul Rahman bin Syeikh Abdul Samad al-Falimbani. Syeikh Abdul Rahman juga dikenali sebagai Tuan Mandak. Seperti ayahnya, Tuan Mandak adalah seorang ulama sufi yang turut berjuang menegakkan Islam di medan jihad dan juga menyebarkan dakwah agama. Beliau berundur ke Kemaman setelah bapanya, Syeikh Abdul Samad al-Falimbani syahid di Patani dalam peperangan menentang Siam-Thai.
5. Dalam tahun 1831, Tengku Kudin (Tunku Zainal Abidin bin Tunku Radin Muhammad) telah mula memimpin orang Melayu Kedah menentang penaklukan Siam di Kedah bermula tahun 1824. Berbagai kejayaan besar bagi orang Melayu Kedah telah dicapai dalam menyekat pengaruh Siam, semasa pimpinan Tengku Kudin sehingga 1829.
6. Pada 1831, Tuan Sulong (Raja Patani), Tuan Kundur (Raja Jala),Tuan Kecik (Raja Nongcik), Nik Dih (Raja Sai) dan Nik Dah (Raja Legeh) telah memimpin tentera Patani dan bergabung dengan Kedah yang dipimpin oleh Tengku Kudin menentang kemaraan tentera Siam untuk menjajah negeri Melayu. Sultan Umar (Sultan Terengganu) telah menghantar lima orang panglima bersama 5,000 tentera. Manakala Sultan Muhammad I (Sultan Kelantan) telah mengirim 3,000 tentera yang dipimpin oleh Raja Kampung Laut.
7. Pada bulan Oktober 1831, Tengku Kudin telah terkorban dalam serangan hendap Siam di Kedah. Ini menyebabkan pasukan Melayu Kedah kucar kacir dan terpaksa berundur. Tinggalah tentera Patani yang dipimpin oleh 5 raja mereka bersama tentera Kedah dan Kelantan, yang bertahan dari asakan dengan penambahan tentera Siam-Thai dari Bangkok.
8. Dalam peperangan inilah, Syeikh Abdul Samad al-Falimbani juga telah gugur syahid dan dikebumikan di Patani. Pasukan gabungan dari Patani, Kelantan dan Terenganu terpaksa berundur pada Februari 1832. Dan pada dalam tahun inilah Tuan Mandak (Syeikh Abdul Rahman bin Syeikh Abdul Rahman al-Falimbani) telah berundur ke Kemaman.
9. Kedatangan rombongan Tuan Mandak adalah dari kelompok besar yang kedua kemudian daripada Lebai Saras yang berundur dari Patani ke Kemaman pada tahun 1785, semasa kali pertama kejatuhan Patani kepada Siam. Lebai Saras adalah pembuka Kemaman yang pertama. Kemudian Kemaman turut menerima pengunduran bangsawan Johor yang kalah dalam perang saudara di sana dalam awal abad ke-19.

8. In this war, Sheikh Abdul Samad al-Falimbani was also martyred and buried in Patani. The combined forces from Patani, Kelantan and Terenganu had to retreat in February 1832. And in this year Tuan Mandak (Sheikh Abdul Rahman bin Sheikh Abdul Rahman al-Falimbani) withdrew to Kemaman.
9. The arrival of Tuan Mandak's entourage was from the second large group then from Lebai Saras who retreated from Patani to Kemaman in 1785, during the first time Patani fell to Siam. Lebai Saras was the first Kemaman opener. Then Kemaman also accepted the resignation of the Johor aristocracy who lost in the civil war there in the early 19th century.
