Memory Guesthouse JB

Memory Guesthouse was the best I'd had in a long time, better than those I stayed in Singapore, in London, in Barcelona, and so on. The room looked simple but very comfortable: spacious bed - I didn't need to use the locker to store my things, bigger bathroom than in many places, beautiful open-air seats with adorable kittens. I especially loved the cozy atmosphere, and more than everything, Gan and Roger's kindness. Due to my visa problem, I had to change the whole plan of mine to go to KL the next day, they let me cancel the second day with no cost, and talking with them was so much fun. I hope next time will come soon when I can stay longer in JB, and in Memory Guesthouse. If you wanna feel the warmth of friendship and family in JB, Memory Guesthouse is the best choice!

Affordable and near restaurant and other shop, just 2 minutes away. ATM just 2 minutes away from the restaurant.

Good for solo travellers, with low budget & convenient for those who loves cooking. The guesthouse is clean, tidy & well maintain by two nice cool friendly gentleman... Well recommended.

This is the best hostel i have stayed in my travels thus far. What an absolute gem of a place to stay. From the moment i arrived, i was greeted by Gan at the gate. The place itself wasnt hard to find, a single storey corner lot. Gan explained everything that there was to know and gave me a tour. I chose the mixed dorm with fan bed. Rm 20 gets you a towel, a free locker. The bed is comfy. All the facilities are clean and tidy. There is even a fridge to put your stuff. You have place to cook. The porch area is laidback. The ambience is homely and comfortable. This is the sort of character a backpacker like me loves. Now, my day job, im a hotelier. Not trying to boast, not easy to impress a seasoned hotelier but i was impressed. The attention to detail is obvious. This is service from the heart. Many five star hotels have failed to capture this trait, though you have. Bravo and well done. I am satisfied. Definitely will be back again.

Perfect space for budget travelers. I stayed here for 3 weeks and enjoyed workation there. Manager Gan is friendly and helpful. Here has maany pets, so you can feel relaxed.

If you are a backpacker and love that lifestyle then this is the place for you. The place is comfy, and nicely situated far from busy thoroughfares, so nights are serene and peaceful. And days too if you are a day sleeper. It has all the small things you would want during a stay. And all the small things add up. Blazing fast WiFi, available to every guest. Free coffee and tea (steep it yourself; teabags), and hot water is always available from 6AM - 2AM (IIRC), so you don't have to wait for a kettle to boil. Do note that the hot water is not boiling hot, so those of you that steep tea that way will need to boil water. The same machine also dispenses crisp cool and clean water for all my hydrohomies who choose to stay there. You also get your own mug, it comes with your room/bed. 6AM - 2AM. Plenty of washrooms and most of them are equipped with hot showers, a luxury considering the rate, a most welcome luxury nonetheless. You have to bring your own toiletries though. If you want to pack light there is a sundry shop within 5-10 minutes walking distance, you can get soap, and other personal hygiene products there. The washrooms have two kinds of lights, a dinner one that senses motion, and the main light that turns on when you close the washroom door. Don't sweat it though, the host will show you around and help you with the amenities. And the host is super helpful and friendly. Thanks Gan, you made a nice trip into an unforgettable life experience. He also takes care of all the animal residents there. Don't worry, the place is kept super clean, there's absolutely no foul smells during my stay there. There are some clotheslines on the back porch, you can air out your laundry, or if you are short on time there's a washing machine and dryer available at extra cost. If you have clothing that requires hand washing there are buckets you can use — they are specifically for doing laundry. In the front there are some tables where you can relax and enjoy the relaxing sound of gently flowing water from the beautiful koi pond. There's also a kitchen with a stove and some utensils, a microwave and a toaster. You just bring your own food and you can cook there. The single room gives you good privacy, very well kept and because the whole house has mosquito nets, they are not a problem. The single beds in the 8 person dormitory are also nice and well thought out, they have privacy curtains and ample power outlets to charge your devices and a night light. You also get a locker to store your more valuable items There's also a dorm with AC if you so choose. It's nicely located, about 30 mins walking distance to the city center, and there are food shops nearby (5-10 mins walk) to eat at. And what is nice is that this place seems to attract interesting sorts of people. I had a great time meeting new faces, and just shot the breeze with them. Time just seemed to pass by so fast without me realising, and we talked way into the night. I wish I could stay longer. Next time I come around JB I will be sure to book a stay at Memory Guesthouse JB. Again, Gan thank you for being such a gracious host, I look forward to seeing you again. Peace.

Value for money accomodation. It is located in a calm neighbourhood about 20mins walk from the centre but you can find everything you need around such as nice restaurants, minimatkets, atm etc. The staff was really good and friendly. They were willing to help with everything always with a big smile. The common area was lovely and it was the best place to meet nice people. There is also a fully equipped common kitchen and fridge. Last but not least, there was free coffee and tea.
