Nice place to view sunrise. Good for early hike but remember to take torchlight. It can link to alot different route such as youth park, Bukit cendana, Station 84 and even Penang hill. If you are not experience, I suggest you do not proceed further after reaching no.5. After no.5 there will be a lot split route when is confusing. Ask around if you are unsure, a lot of hikers are friendly and will tell you which way to go

Very famous hike trail in Penang. Many ways to go up to the moon gate , station 5. In Station 5, many exercise equipment. Before MCO, around 4:30pm , hikes provided hot Chinese tea, hot coffee and crackers for free. But not any more.

There is nothing new to Moongate hikers who have ply the routes in Botanical garden and knows the route at the back of their palm, especially those who frequent this trail. Nothing is new to ardent hikers that they're not aware of, every details of things happening here spread like wildfire among die hard trekkers. Nothing concerning this trail can hide from them, they have built a strong knitted community amongst them. Most trekkers at one time bound to have taken hikes from this vicinity to some of the rest stations situated here. The trail has churned into steps now on certain path, time varies to reach certain rest station differs. Bring a walking stick along for precautionary measures especially during raining season, it may come in handy when needed. The only advise for beginners or starters, hike with trekkers who are familiar with the routes here. Not a difficult route to track, anybody can do with a little will and determination. Be safe and enjoy your foray.

The trail was moderate, still can be done by beginners. There are few pit stop where you can take beautiful photos especially for instagrammer... Worth the sweat... ???

I managed to make it halfway only because I started to feel lightheaded after that and took a long rest, I didn't managed to arrive at the resting area. Wasted opportunity! Anyway, the trail is well maintained and easy to navigate and follow. Managed to saw a few monkeys, lizards n a tiny Komodo dragon. If I'm fit enough, I'd love to hike here again and hope I can make it to Penang hill without fainting.
