★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This tour had been postponed once as MCO hit the whole nation, but thank god we managed to rearranged to a later date when interstate was no longer restricted.
We booked 4x vespa's in total, with 1 elderly(mother - 1st time on the bike) and 2 kids tagging along. So we were glad that Ayai had the patience to deal with all of our dramas haha.
We went for the sunset tour(recommended!) and did a 2.5hr(due to time restriction) ride and thoroughly enjoyed the ride! Ayai is also a very friendly & cool dude!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We had a wonderful ride in Langkawi on a beautiful Vespa. I’ve always loved riding one and it was finally possible this time. The owner was very helpful. As it was New Years Holiday, it was very difficult to get any kind of bikes, but the owner made sure that we get one to rent and to have the best time at Langkawi. Highly recommended. ??

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I’ve been to Langkawi five times in my life, but never have I ever experienced it as good as this! It is true when they say, if you want to soak up the life and culture of the place you visit, you must spend time with the locals who have been living there for some time.
I booked a 2-day tour with Ayai of Moto Tomo Vespa Tours, and was taken to the beautiful, scenic, and lesser-known areas of Langkawi. I’ve always loved Vespas, so going on this trip is pretty much a no brainer. His wife and child came along as well, and they were super nice to hang out with.
Ayai was also cool enough to show me how to ride the rented Vespa before we started the journey and gave me confidence to handle the wild horse of a bike that is (that model was really torquey).
Day 1
We rode through the scenic countryside roads (“Kampung Roads” if you will) with lush greenery, paddy fields, rubber estates, with the island’s mountains seen from afar. It’s nothing short of a postcard perfect trip if you ask me.
We then came across Malaysia’s smallest dam. It’s semi-flooded and Ayai took us through the shallow waters which was really fun! Ride and don’t stop!
Then we rode deeper into the island, to a well-hidden cozy coffee shop in the village. It was annexed to a Batik (a traditional Malay-Javanese art) school where visitors can sign up for a short batik course while visiting the island, and you get to keep your artwork once you’re done painting! Talk about killing two birds with one stone.
We chilled at the coffee shop for about an hour or two, mixing around with the baristas and the other tour joiners. The coffee was some good stuff, and their desserts were good as well. Try out the Red Velvet and Lotus Biscoff crumbles, you won’t regret it. Surprisingly, they serve Vietnamese Coffee as well!
We left the coffee place and head on to Kalut Bar at Cenang Beach and watched the sunset with burgers and a few drinks.
Day 2
We started off the journey in the morning going around town and ended up at Telaga Habour for a pit stop. And then headed straight to Sandy Skull Beach, which is pretty much a lesser-known beach that’s cleaner with not many people. We spent about 2 hours there soaking ourselves at the beach and enjoying the view of some Thai island across the sea.
We then rode to Temurun Waterfalls, which is this beautiful, beautiful 3-tier cascading waterfall. I was in awe on how high it was. It was quite a steep hike towards the top freshwater pool, but my oh my was it worth it. The water was a little cold, but you’ll get used to it!
To end the trip after the swim, we rode to Tanjung Rhu for a pit stop at Black Sand Beach and then later for some delicious Fish & Chips at Scarborough Fish & Chips. I couldn’t have asked for a better ending to the trip.
I highly recommend this experience to anyone who wants to get to know Langkawi a little better and a little differently. There’s just something about riding a bike with the wind blowing through your face that’s exhilarating.
Ayai told us that despite the places he’s brought us. There are many more hidden gems at Langkawi waiting to be explored, and I can’t wait to come back to Langkawi to see what that is!
