★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This beautiful two-storey building with a three-tiered pagoda on top was used and still used as a Chinese association. It has an attractive and colourful facade - a sight to behold and admire. It was established on 1st August of 1936. Take a look of the narrow alley beside the association building.
Members have their origins from 17 cities in China from the provinces of Zhangzhou and Quanzhou. During WW2, when Japan invaded China, the people from the districts of ZhangZhou and QuanZhou set up a war relief. Many Chinese including leaders who helped in the war relief fund were executed by the Japanese when Japan invaded Malaya (then) in 1942.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Saw thing building while on a walking tour of Muar back in Feb. The Chiang Chuan Association is a building that houses the Muar tourist information office. This is a two storey building with a mixture of Indo-Islamic, Chinese and European Influences. The whole structure is topped with a three tiered pagoda, which itself is topped with a Mughal style onion dome. The upper floor has European style balconies divided by fluted columns and decorated with Chinese red lanterns and a mosaic of a Kylin. It’s a nice looking building though.
