★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is a wholesaler collecting durian from the surroundings of Tangkak, with purchasers buying durian in bulks for sales elsewhere. The photo is showing a lorry from Terengganu transporting durian for sales in Kemaman (this was 2nd day of Hari Raya 2019). We sampled four types of durian, in ascending order of flavour, Musang king, Tekka (only one fruit left), D13 and D101(please don't argue on flavor- that's my wife's taste). The price, on the other hand, is in reverse order, based on my memory, Musang King RM48/kg, Tekka RM25/kg, D13 RM15/kg and D101 (I forgot to ask. All in all, total for four fruits is RM98.00 not counting petrol and toll from KL, and homestay).
As a note, I came for Musang King. The Terengganu bulk buyer recommended, 'Musang King sedap, tapi harga tak sedap' while 'D13 sedap, harga pun sedap.' A worker recommended D101, a durian kampung. He said, 'keluarga kami langsung tak endahkan Musang King.' Between Musang and Tekka, the towkay said, its all up to an individual's taste. I agree.
In conclusion, just enjoy each type of durian for its flavour and appreciate what nature and human's creativity have procreate for durian and all its variety.
My next posting on durian would be durians from Jalan Tapah to Cameron Highlands Road. They would be Orang Asli durians produced from thousands and thousands of trees along the mountain slopes.
Also as a note on location: just after the toll plaza North South Highway to Muar and Tangkak, turn left. The store (along a row fruit stores) is on the right of the road.
