★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Istana Hinggap for the Sultan Johor when he and his family visit Muar. Built in the 60's, to be considered very modern at that time. And it still look modern today. There's a helipad in the compound.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It's the palace of Muar, a stay for His Majesty of Johor. Situated near the river end, this place is forbidden from trespassing.
Occasionally, His Majesty will perform some open house like Hari Raya Open House. That's the time where you get a chance to meet him and have a meal in the palace compound.
There is a large parking bay, a helipad and a private dock for His Majesty to arrive.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Saw thing while on a walking tour of Muar, and aday trip from Melaka. It’s a nice enough building and landmark of Muar. The Palace of Muar, also known locally as the Istana Tanjong is, I think one of the royal residence of the Johor Sultan. Most of the building is currently hidden from view as the the building is currently undergoing renovations. I still managed to walk into the grounds of the Istana though and no one stopped me. The building looks like a Modernist or Prairie style building popular in the United States, so it doesn't really strike me as a palace.
