Ham Chim Peng is tasty - saltiness not evenly spread. Steam cake is plain and not too sweet. Bought some to try.

4 stars for the Steamed Rice Cake! Lightly sweetened, soft and fluffy. Although a touch too moist, probably due to the packaging when I took it back. The Hum Chim Pengs disappointed though. Flat, tough and stale.

Erm... So so only... I don't consider it a delicious snack.

Steam rice cake is nice, but too soft for me. Pancake definitely taste nice and unique, it is both salty and sweet. They also have Sticky rice pancake, which not my favorite

Go early to avoid disappointment of not getting the steam rice cake. Old shop and highly popular. Opens 5pm and usually things finished before 7pm.

Another good spot for ham chin peng. Come early as they usually ran out around 8pm.

The 白糖糕 is famous, the malay kuih or malai gao is nice with hints of coconut sugar

Take a bite of the past at the intersection of Cintra Street and Campbell Street at this third generation snack stall now run by two shy Millenials. Their presence is most welcomed in this ever changing quarter of the UNESCO site. They still ply their ready to eat deep fried quintessential Cantonese doughnut pancakes (Ham Chim Peng) seasoned with red fermented tofu cheese and five spice. The snacks come plain salty, with glutinous rice or azuki beans filling; white steamed cake and a new item, sesame doughnut roll with lotus paste, dessicated coconut or round with granulated peanuts. All for a paltry RM1.00 each. Worth a snacking drive by just for the nostalgia. If you are early before 5pm, wander to the left block of the low rise flats at the backlane, you may be lucky to pick a few fresh out of the hot oil..
