★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The night market itself is still mostly not operating due to the SOP Or closure from some vendors.
Then the whole Chinatown is going through a huge transformation phase, revamped and turning into a new hot spot for the young and trendy crowd as I was so pleasantly surprised to see the new business establishments springing up to present a whole new vibe to attract more crowd.
There are already a number of very Instagram friendly spots where youngsters love to punch card to share their whereabouts, and they all have their own distinctive themes and decor, mostly revolving around Oriental, Old Shanghai era, very Chinese eccentric setting, just so eye popping. I love it, and mind u that's just me having a quick glance while I was passing by that area, totally impressed.
I am very sure this once thought to be dead spot in the city will come alive, better, louder, brighter, shinier, lovelier, hotter, sweeter and greater than ever! This place is going through a huge and healthy transformation and I am excited how the oldest part of the city will turn into the newest hangout spot for the locals and tourists alike in coming near future.
I can't wait to see what else is in store for us. Keep going, Chinatown. You deserve the glorious and colorful identity like how you used to be.

1) a chinese guy is selling underweight fruits and roasted chestnut. chestnut 1斤should be 600g but i only got 400g. he told me the fruit has 1kg+ but he will only charge me the price of 1kg, apparently it was only 800g+.
2) the original machee which sold by an old lady is good.
3) long queue for soya bean
4) the fried stuff 虾饼， 萝卜糕，笑口枣 were normal but it has a greasy feeling in my mouth after taking the 虾饼. a bit too oily for me.
