β β β β β It is located in the heart of the city. The two-storey complex houses over four hundred traders selling local products from textile and clothing to local delicacies such as dodol.
The name means "Wednesday Market" because it began as a weekly market in the early part of the 20th century. It was started at the initiative of Tunku Yaakob, a local prince, who established a weekly market at Tanjung Chali, between Pekan Cina and Pengkalan Kapal.
The weekly Pekan Rabu was such a success with the locals that it evolved into a daily market. In 1932, the state government relocated Pekan Rabu to its present site. At that time, it was just a collection of makeshift structures.

β β β β β One of the oldest attraction in Alor Setar. Literally mean 'Wednesday Market', it was a weekly market but now converted into daily business operating in a building complex. A great place to find traditional food, handicraft products and apparel. Serunding, Dodol, Kuah Rojak, Belacan are some of the delicacies that can be found here. Visitors can also buy traditional clothing such as Baju Kurung, Baju Melayu, Tudung and Songkok. There are also a food court and basement carparks here. This is a must visit place when you are in Alor Setar.

β β β β β They re-build and renovate this legendary market place that sells a lot of local products. Known as Pekan Rabu as historically, this market place is open by the Highness of Kedah in 1930 to give the locals exposure for trading. Varieties of customs clothes, crafted items, dry seafoods, traditional medicines, local dishes, kitchen wear and many more. The food court are at the ground level serving local foods. Ample basement parking space. Got accessibility for wheelchair & disable. Comply to Covid-19 SOPs.

β β β β β Excellent place to experience Alor Setar or Kedah in particular. Bazaar with full colours. Selling most famous Kedah state delicacy, gift, batik product and so much more. The complex got basement parking and ample parking spot outside. There also have a food court on right side of the complex. It quite a big complex with 6 storey vast with all the shop vendors. But there were quite difficult for disable people to roam around this complex. The walkway can be cramp and crowded with people and the vendors goods. Even their restroom was in bad shape. Dirty and smelly. Seem like there wasnt any staff or workers to maintain their toilet. Should be and can be better than this. This is a tourist destination yet lack this main functional and basic need.
