★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Penubuhan PKG bermula dengan tertubuhnya Pusat Sumber Tempatan (PST) di 302 buah sekolah pada tahun 1978. Pada tahun 1981, PST diubah nama kepada Pusat Media Daerah (PMD), iaitu selaras dengan konsep dan rasional pembukaan empat buah Pusat Sumber Pendidikan Negeri di Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu, dan Pahang.
Pada tahun 1986 nama PMD telah diubah kepada Pusat Sumber Pendidikan Daerah (PSPD). Setiap PSPD memberi khidmat kepada 15 hingga 20 buah sekolah. Fungsi utama PSPD ialah mengatasi dan memperbaiki jurang perbezaan pencapaian pendidikan luar dan dalam bandar dengan menyediakan perkhidmatan pinjaman alatan dan membina bahan pengajaran kos rendah. Kementerian Pendidikan berhasrat menjadikan PSPD sebagai agen untuk membiasakan guru-guru khasnya di luar bandar dengan asas teknologi pendidikan (teknopen).
Seterusnya pada tahun 1990, nama PSPD ditukar kepada Pusat Kegiatan Guru (PKG). Dengan menggunakan peruntukan Bank Dunia, sebanyak 200 buah bangunan PKG telah dibina dan 150 buah lagi telah ditempatkan di bangunan sekolah. Nama PKG dianggap sesuai untuk menggantikan nama Pusat Sumber Pendidikan Daerah bagi mengelak kekeliruan pada istilah 'Daerah', memberi gambaran sebenar tentang aktiviti yang dijalankan di pusat tersebut. Pada tahun 1995 PKG telah menerima Anugerah Inovasi Perkhidmatan Awam sebagai pengiktirafan di atas kejayaan yang telah dicapai.
 The establishment of the PKG began with the establishment of a Local Resource Center (PST) at 302 schools in 1978. In 1981, the PST was renamed the Regional Media Center (PMD), in line with the concept and rationale of opening four State Education Resource Centers in Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu, and Pahang.
In 1986 the name PMD was changed to the District Education Resource Center (PSPD). Each PSPD serves 15 to 20 schools. The main function of the PSPD is to overcome and improve the disparities in the achievement of rural and urban education by providing loan lending services and building low cost teaching materials. The Ministry of Education intends to make the PSPD an agent to familiarize teachers in rural areas with the basis of educational technology (technopen).
Subsequently in 1990, the name of the PSPD was changed to the Teacher Activities Center (PKG). Using the provisions of the World Bank, 200 PKG buildings were built and another 150 were housed in school buildings. The PKG name is considered appropriate to replace the District Education Resource Center to avoid confusion with the term 'District', giving a true picture of the activities carried out at the center. In 1995 the CPG received the Public Service Innovation Award in recognition of its achievements.
