laksa tasted ok. not sour enough in my opinion. also this type of laksa is without torch ginger flower (more towards malay laksa) cendol is normal. this place is self served for ordering. location is ok, occasionally can see train passing by.

Full of noodles than vegetables. Noodle is rough rather than Penang smooth type. Soup not too sour or spicy, just nice. Kerepok is a must! 1 person at least have 2 of it? Cendul also quite good.

The Taiping Railway Station Inaugurated in 1885, the railway route from Taiping to Kuala Sepetang was Malaysia's first railway track to be built. The original station built in 1885 was located at where the King Edward VII School is today, but that has already been dismantled. The one you see below was built in 1893. Walking into the vintage train station felt like going into a movie set. The colors are worn-out colors of pink, brown and white; yet the design is no-fuss and timeless. The old machineries that were once used to manuever railway tracks still remind us of the station's former glory. Part of the old station is used as a a gallery to exhibit "Taiping's 33 Firsts", while other parts are transformed into cafes. The trains that pass through Taiping now stop at the adjoined new station built in 2014.

This joint is recommended by a local Taiping friend. Situated in the old Taiping railway station building, you will dine in a special corridor by the railway track. A few train may pass by as you enjoy your meal. The laksa is one of the best asam laksa I've tried. Do not expect the penang version. Here, it is a perfect blend of spices, sourness and generous amount of soft flaky fish meat. The soup is thick in consistency and I like that it is not too sweet. The noodles are not usual slippery slimy transparent laifun but firm chewy rice flour type. Simply love it and highly recommended to try.
