I am utterly grateful to Dr. Yap and his team at RE Plastic Surgery Clinic. Seeing him was the best decision I could have made for my skin and general well being. I’d rarely had acne growing up, but that changed in my mid-thirties. Recently, I noticed some random spots that were rather deep, painful and annoyingly persistent. Initially, I went to a dermatologist and was diagnosed with nodular cystic acne. I was asked to go on Isotretinoin (Accutane) among some other secondary treatments, and came out of the consult feeling like that might be the only effective solution. However, I was resistant to the idea as I was aware of the side effects, and a miscarriage in the past year led me to seriously rethink being on certain medications given my future plans. I decided to get a second opinion from Dr. Yap, and like I said, it was the best decision I could’ve made. From my first visit, Dr. Yap immediately put me at ease. He was incredibly patient, very approachable and easy to talk to. He genuinely took the time to listen to what my concerns were given my personal history and individual experiences. He emphasized general health and well-being first: eating right, resting well, stressing less, instead of pushing medications and treatments straightaway as a “fix”. With that as a firm foundation, he then delved into numerous possible treatments, from topical treatments to procedures I had no clue about prior to this. In that first visit, I went from feeling defeated (believing that I’d have to either settle for painful, stubborn acne indefinitely or deal with side effects from medication I didn’t want to take), to feeling so much relief because Dr Yap made me understand that things were nowhere as bad as I'd thought, and that there was a whole world options out there. Having gone through the treatment process thus far, I feel what really sets Dr. Yap apart is that he truly focuses on tailoring a treatment plan to the patient’s individual needs and conditions. I had limited time in Malaysia since I was due to travel, so he made it a point to see me often and worked out a plan for me around that timeline, tweaking it according to how my skin was doing during each visit. Every time I saw him, he would always go back to how I was treating myself and my general health. He also gave me realistic expectations for each procedure I chose. In my opinion, the procedures were hardly scary like I thought they would be, and honestly nowhere as painful. I think that had a lot to do with Dr Yap consistently explaining what he was going to do before going into it so I didn’t feel like a clueless human pin cushion. In addition, his team was also fabulous and very professional. They were thorough when prepping me for procedures, clearly well-trained and skilled themselves. In the time I have been treated by Dr. Yap, my skin already looks so much better, calmer, and smoother than I'd thought was possible. Perhaps more importantly, I've gained back much self-confidence and am looking forward to what else comes on my journey to better skin. I would recommend Dr. Yap without reservation, and will definitely be back to see him myself whenever I return to KL.

I recently went to RE Plastic Surgery due to an injury on my forehead; I initially had some stitches done at another hospital but it was not done too well. After consulting Dr Yap, he redid my stitches and did a fantastic job. Throughout the whole process Dr Yap and Dr Phyllis were very professional, caring and paid attention to detail.
