★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Tried the following dishes and loved them. Food is very well done. The well-known curry fish head has no fishy smell to it, and the curry is not overly spicy - just nice.
The restaurant has aircon. Only thing is that the place is too small, and it being enclosed makes the place very echo-ey and hence difficult to hold conversations.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Hands down... BEST curry fish head in town! Often imitated, never duplicated! If you want, you better show up early at around 5 pm because they WILL sell out so be prepared to wait. The 香檳骨 (champagne spare rib) and 馬拉盞通菜 (belacan on choy) is just as consistently delicious. In fact, these three dishes are so perfect that they are literally the only dishes I ever order and I have eaten here a dozen times! One of my very favourite meals every time I am here in Ipoh! The majestic mountains in the background make for a perfect atmosphere to enjoy this sumptuous feast!
After a looooong 2 year pandemic hiatus we finally enjoyed another curry fish head meal and Mun Ji is STILL the best in Ipoh! Since changing the location to the opposite corner of the square, seats are at a premium especially if they are not taking reservations so you need to come early if you want to get a table and not to wait. We ordered all our old favourites and absolutely nothing has changed!
The reason why their curry fish head is the best in Ipoh is because their curry is always rich with delicious flavour and never too spicy. The fish is also the freshest with generous chunks of meat and never fishy tasting. It's all about consistency. Other than the curry fish head, their 香檳骨, signature tofu, 馬拉盞通菜, lala and Thai style steamed sotong are MUST order!! Their quality and consistency are unrivaled. COVID-19 protocols and best practices were strictly enforced and observed by all for a safe and delicious dining experience!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My favourite is the champion pork rib. Classic taste. The fish curry is not bad. RM35 for small portion. Except the garoupa is a bit tough and the taupok is a little chewy. The steamed lime sotong is good too. The restaurant was already full at 7pm on a weekday. No reservation allowed. First come, first served.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ All the food i order here is good. Famous curry fish head, tong poh meat, signature taufu, 3 eggs yun cai, steamy sour sotong. The price is also reasonable at rm140 for 5 pax. As for the service, dont expect very friendly and attentive waitress becoz the place very crowded. Anyway, the food is highly recommended.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ One of the best Fish Head Curry I had recently. The curry is just so damn good and the other dishes were also equally as good. The sweet and sour pork in particular was very memorable as the outside was fried till crispy perfection and soft and juicy on the inside. Do be aware that the dinner crowd might get out of hand so recommend to come early at around 5 or 5.30pm to avoid the crowds and have a good early Dinner. Spent around Rm100.80 for 5 dish which is very very reasonable especially to a person from KL as it is much more cheaper compared to some similar concept restaurants in KL. Highly recommended.
