Sometimes my work brought me to a place less traveled - Kota Tinggi, to me, is a town that I used to pass by in the past when my dad drove us from Kuantan to Singapore via the coastal road. Apart from that, I know nothing about this town about 1 hour drive from JB city centre. So we had just finished everything for the day, and the associate who lives in Kota Tinggi brought us out for dinner at his favourite seafood restaurant.
Mind you - this is not those atas seafood place with fancy schmancy interior, but a rather simple and no-frills kind of restaurant located on a row of old shoplot. All tables inside the restaurant were occupied by the time we arrived so we had to settle alfresco style. Our local associate did all the ordering and off we went to one of the most satisfying meal
◾teo chew steamed red snapper - freshness of seafood was almost guaranteed here and this dish was very appetising.
◾Claypot spicy shark meat - Drenched in the homemade dark and spicy sauce, we quickly digged into the collagen-rich meat.
◾Slipper lobsters coated in sticky, dark and sweet sauce.. I enjoyed every moment I used my bare hands to rip all the flesh out of the shell and savour the sweet crustacean's meat.
◾A plate of vegetable - funny that we Chinese must have a plate of veggie on the table almost every time.
I had bumped into another customer of mine eating dinner here and he too, told me that this place was like his canteen everytime he's in town. I've already pinpointed the restaurant to bring my family the next time I'm in vicinity.
