Note: this is a restaurant only locals will know, as it's located in industrial area without any signage. And this area is where I ply my trade This is the only Chinese restaurant in this area that serves dai chow. When timber industry was at its peak many years ago, there were a few restaurants operating but it has since reduced down to one which is the one I'm writing now. As I'd said before, there's no signage so unless you know of their existence, most likely you'd miss it without paying much attention. And the opening of the CSR has effectively bypassed the old Lipis-Gua Musang route, affecting the business further. You won't have any expectation upon entering this restaurant which mainly relying on patronage from the locals and those nearby. A small picture displaying the owner together with Axian (yes, the famous local host) was hung on the wall. Apart from that there are only plastic tables and chairs inside the premise. If you know what to order, you could end up leaving the restaurant with smiles. ◾Noodles such as hokkien mee, Cantonese style hor fun, Yee mee.. these were some of the dishes that we'd order on the morning. Wok hei is almost assured and the flavour could rival some of the famous restaurants out there. ◾Stir fried pork liver with ginger & spring onion - if you're fan of spare part, this will definitely appeal to you with the enhanced flavour of ginger and spring onion. ◾Braised pork ear and forehead skin - I was converted by my cousin who always order this whenever available. Braised until soft while retaining its crunchy texture (cartilage), it was like eating snacks while having tea. ◾Dry curry style wild boar - soft wild boar meat coated with curry powder but not too overpowering, you would be mistaken for thinking that this was regular pork instead. ◾Stir fried sweet potato leaves with eggs - one of my default order when eating here. ◾Steamed bak sou gong - do take note that they only have tilapia fish for sale (by the way, the buttermilk tilapia was the bomb!) But I brought my own bak sou gong and they obliged to steam it for me. Good stuff. ◾Signature stir fried pork belly - another default order as j couldn't get enough of the sweet & savoury sauce covering the pork belly. Whenever I ordered this for my customers, almost all of them complement this dish. Gotta taste to believe it. The service here can be slow as there's only one chef, and the service could be quite frustrating sometimes especially when they were packed with customers. Patience has its virtue and you'll be rewarded with a good lunch soon after. P.S: they are only open from morning until lunch... 2pm to be exact.
