Once in a while I would go back to the town where I was born. And there are a few restaurants which I'd go back repeatedly just because the food is awesome to me. One of which is Hwa Ang - an almost run-down looking restaurant located under low cost flat near Tanah Putih area. My first time coming here was with my associates who told me that this was their canteen. Long story short, the lunch affair was a pleasant one albeit a bit hot & stuffy especially during lunch time.
After that I came back many many times along with the family just to eat lunch - I would normally avoid dinner because this area is quite deserted at night. Bamboo blinds are used to provide shade to those who sit outside during lunch time from the hot sun.
βΎClaypot crab rice - I thoroughly enjoy breaking my lifestyle by gorging down the sweet rice covered with the dark soy sauce plus the sweetness from the crustacean. Beware - occasionally you'd find broken crab shell when eating (you wouldn't want to chip your tooth). They can use small prawns to substitute the crab if you want to.
βΎClaypot fish head in soup rather than braised sauce - if you're a fan of fish head, they get fresh supply of seafood everyday. Love sucking and devouring the head part by part!
βΎNam yue pork - nicely done and addictive too!
βΎfried flat fish - almost every table will have this dish and it's sort of like a signature dish for them! Simple, nice and delicious
βΎStir fried dou miao (snow pea shoots) - whenever I know that certain place has this veggie, I order it without blinking my eyes.
βΎAnother popular dish will be their fish porridge which I didn't order this time but it's a perfect comfort dish for me should I crave for porridge.
Do take note that they are also opened for dinner in which the dining experience is more enjoyable due to the cooler temperature.

β β β β β Fresh fish available but have to be early. Porridge with your choice of fish selection complement with a few side dishes makes a satisfying meal for your family or small group of friends. Reasonable prices depending on the fish availability and seasonal. Non halal though. Closes at around 9pm.
