Finally this year (2019), there's a non-smoking section in the newest part of the restaurant. At long last, it's kept mostly smoke free, for the benefit of pregnant women, nursing mothers and families with young children and those of us who value our health! [Previous review] I'm retracting my previous 5-star rating and downgrading it now to 1-star. It looks like their non-smoking section is ignored by both patrons, and not monitored by waitstaff and management. What's the use of putting up non-smoking signs in one area and making it clear to patrons that it really means non-smoking? There's three main eating areas: the original restaurant where the kitchen is towards the back, the outside eating area in the walkway and across the laneway, and the newer shoplot. The first two are areas where smokers are free to smoke and carry on as they wish, leaving only ONE single area that's smoke free. Even that one area is denied to us non-smokers. When I asked the waitstaff to ask the smokers to cease their smoking or move to another area, they indicated that they wouldn't do anything; likewise, their manager also declined to take any action. Yes, that non-smoking area is the most attractive of the lot, with better lighting, brighter and cleaner, with TVs playing some programmes. That should be a small "incentive" or motivation for folks to stop smoking, shouldn't it? Previously, based on our feedback, management had agreed to make this area a non-smoking zone, for the use of families, pregnant and nursing mothers, young children and those of us who value our health. Second-hand smoke is very dangerous, and its effects stay behind for a long time after exposure. Well, due to SPT's management inaction, we had no choice but to move on - not eat there, we're voting with our feet - and have our dinner elsewhere. For the sake of not offending those doing the wrong thing, others are cheesed off and take their business elsewhere - well done, SPT! The food has been always been delicious and reasonably-priced, popular with the student crowd. The menu has the favorite Malay dishes, with a sprinkling of items influenced by the north of peninsular Malaysia. The "som tam" (Thai pawpaw salad), nasi kerabu (rice coloured blue and served with traditional side dishes), "kai pad kaprow" (chIcken stir-fried with basil) are firm favourites of ours.

Haven't really tried much of the food but the black pepper chicken rice is just too good for it's price

Ordered their nasi kerabu and sup daging not so tasty the daging sup was very peppery can't eat too hot the daging was very tough to eat the nasi kerabu not tasty threw most of kerabu rice and sup away but luckily could eat some of their fried chicken the malay lady owner was not so friendly tho doesn't greet you or smiling but it's okay please improve on service and quality of food for your feedback thank you

Always came here to eat dinner with my family Their signature nasi pantai timur is my personal reccomendation. They made their chicken chop in house and its really delicious, especially with the black pepper gravy. The price is average and wait time is not that long. Service is okay but parking spots is quite limited.
