TIPs: It’s free of charge taking the tour around the small museum and the factory! There is a nice cafe serving food there. So we plan our trip and dine in there. Also, there are workshop (30-60mins) for kids / adult to experience the making of own designed pewter(chargeable). We visited Royal Selangor Visitor Centre a couple of times. Constantly improving our visiting experience! Now with earphone and Wi-Fi aided device for explanation throughout the tour. The museum shows the history of RS in a glance and also some interesting fact about pewter. It takes us around 1 hour plus for the museum and factory tour.

This came as part of a tour package but I was pleasantly surprised. The short guided tour was full of information but not overwhelmingly so. The guide was very charismatic and kept things interesting all the way. Seeing the processes at work, getting to interact with the people and items, including a hands on trial of one of the steps really made the experience come alive and gave us an appreciation of the work involved and the uniqueness of each piece.

Malayan Pewter, Selangor Pewter Malaya, Selangor Pewter Malaysia, Selangor Pewter, Royal Selangor Pewter - The evolution and history of what is today famously known as Royal Selangor is just some of the takeaways you will come to be familiar with after completing the guided tour at the Royal Selangor Visitor Centre. Tucked away in the suburbs of Setapak, Kuala Lumpur, this venue effecfively simultaneously achieves being a museum, a manufacturing factory, an exhibition centre and souvenir shop. The interior is very well kept (including bathrooms) and our guided tour experience (which I highly recommend) led by the impressive Ravi left us with a deeper awareness of Royal Selangor's rich history and a great deal of appreciation for the level of craftsmanship that goes into their pewter products; the vast majority are molded and created by hand. Swing by on weekdays to see more of the factory in action. With parking fees skyrocketing in shopping malls and crowd levels returning to pre-pandemic times, the Royal Selangor Visitor Centre is a fantastic alternative for both tourists and locals alike. The guided tour (or self guided if you prefer) and parking is free and the cafe inside serves up good food at reasonable prices. Growing up in the 90s, the Royal Selangor brand was synonymous with pricey goods and the pride of the nation. Fast forward to today and upon spending time at the souvenir shop, you can definitely find many practical items at various price points. Pop culture based pewter such as Marvel, Harry Potter, Disney, Star Wars and others are definitely worth checking out while sister companies Comyns and Selberan cater to more upscale clientele. As with most companies, I can't imagine how badly Royal Selangor was impacted by the pandemic and I hope they're able to find their feet again. With almost 150 years of history to their name, I hope this family owned business can still thrive and uphold their quality over time. This visitor center is a good way to showcase the best of Malaysia and exceeded my expectations. I'd easily recommend checking out this place.

What a great experience! A fantastic preservation of the history of Royal Selangor, learnt its humble beginnings and about its forward thinking founder, and can imagine the hardships he had to go through. Never been prouder of one of our national heritages. The School of Hard Knocks was an experience like no other as well. Likely to come back for the jewellery making side of things too

A very special place that is suitable for all family members to visit and the guide was very welcoming with free entry. It is a historical trip to the tin industry in Malaysia, but the prices of the products are very expensive. If you want try crafting some product, you have to pay 75 rm per person.

Went on a private tour here. My tour guide, Melody, was very knowledgeable, friendly, and spoke perfect English. I learned a lot about pewter here (didn't even know about it prior to visit!). It was cool to learn the history, and see its manufacturing process. And in the gift shop, I totally geeked out as they have several Marvel/DC/Star Wars pewter products ? That was the greatest surprise of the day!

Went there for their pewter class. Was thought the basics of moulding a bowl manually. The person in charge was Hafiz, very friendly, very properly dressed & very skillful . They also have a tour about their history of making pewter products upstairs. I reccomend everyone to atleast join their class, very straightforward and easy to understand. Very good experience here β™₯️?

Highly recommend a visit here if you're visiting KL. It's not usually on the itinerary of KL tours but this place is interesting to learn about how pewter is mined and made into beautiful pieces that are both functional & artistic. There is no entrance fees and you will be guided by either an English speaking or Mandarin speaking guide. The tour itself is a good 1-hour. After that you may decided to take one of the workshop activities for a fee. The nearby cafe also serves delicious tea, cakes & ice cream and is a welcome sight to soothe your tired legs.
