★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This restaurant has good ambiance but a bit tight and small. They have 1st floor but only open for customers during dinner.
Have to call to make advance reservations. Walkin only if they have tables. I was unlucky during my walkin so had to wait 1hour for a table but it was worth it.
I think the food spiciness has been tone down so that it suitable for kids to consume.
The menus.
Tomyam looks red but not spicy. Still it was tasty enough.
The kangkung belacan was all leaf and not the stalks which was amazing.
egg salted fried squid wasn't too salty.
green curry chicken
Kerabu mango.
these was all small size just good enough for 2 pax. Price per plate around rm15-rm20

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The atmosphere is really nice. The is also ok (I think the quality has dropped a little since our last visit years back)
However, don't come with an empty stomach or with kids, since the waiting period is so long. We had to wait for 40 minutes for our kangkung belacan to arrive and the rest came after another 20 minutes. We were coming quite early and there wasn't a lot of people.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Serai Thai Restaurant is my benchmark for all Thai food out there. It’s superrrr delicious and authentic. Dare I say that it is better than my Thai cuisine experience in Thailand itself ??♂️
Anyway, if you’re new to the place, a mustttt try is the Chiang Mai Deep Fried Grouper. You can’t find this anywhere else i think. And of course the Tom Yam is a must try.
The service is really friendly, and the place is also comfortable. But if you’re like me who get’s cold easily, you might wanna bring a sweater or something ?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Taste is consistent everytime we dine in there. The most I like is the buttered prawn and seafood tom yam. Kerapu sam rot is a must. Siakap also not bad.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great ambience, fantastic customer service, outstanding taste of food with perfect execution of the Thai cuisine. I must say that this has already been my 4th or 5th time here but my first time writing a review for this restaurant. All in all, it does worth every single of my cent.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We arrived around 8.30pm. The tip bits (not complimentary) was served first while waiting for our food, it consists of jeruk papaya, keropok udang and salted peanuts.
The food arrived one by one, around 10 to 20 minutes and most of the food are ready. And the chicken arrived last at exactly around 9pm.
The food were great as always and definitely worth the money and will definitely come back to try other type of masakan.
We booked a day before and ordered our food around 6pm through phone on actual dinner date. Although on the menu there's a choices of fish like grouper, senangin, and pomfret, but it's not readily available and they only have sea bass. Maybe if we ordered our food few days before, they might able to get us the fish that we want.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We've been loyal to this restaurant for generations. My late grandpa enjoyed visiting this restaurant every time back in those days but as we moved outside shah alam we stopped going here until recently. During our first visit after many years not coming here, we were faced with huge disappointment.
We made a reservation call few hours prior to our arrival but as we arrived here, the staff said there was no booking under our name. It felt off, so we showed proves, only then did they admit that it was their fault. Simply because our booking was handled by day shift staff so none of the night shift staffs were aware of it. It shows that there's no proper reservation system ?.
Also because of their fault, they treated us coldly that night except for only one waiter but the rest were downright petty. Sigh. Food were great though during that night. So we thought of giving this place another chance.
During our 2nd visit, again with the reservation ?♀️ we arrived on time and yet we still had to wait for our table. None of the staffs escorted us to our table, they just let us stand in the middle of the restaurant, clueless, looking for a place to sit. The food was below average, and after almost completing our meal, my brother found a sharp steel wire in his food. Told the 'boss' right away but she only apologized without compensating for another dish or discounts. Tbh, for a renowned restaurant, you could've done better.
Service 1/5 (1 for that one kind waiter during our first visit)
Food 3/5 (absolutely delicious during our first visit but went downhill the next time we came; inconsistent)
Would never step foot here ever again.
