Silat Hulubalang, or officially known as the Persatuan Seni Silat Warisan Hulubalang Melaka, which is an ancient Malay martial arts of self-defense and believed to have been inherited from the lagendary martial arts form practised by the famous five ‘Hang’ of the ancient Melaka heroic characters, Laksamana Hang Tuah and his companions, known as the ‘Hulubalang’ of Melaka. This ancient martial arts have been handed down through generations of silat masters, some were unknown while some of the known figures like Husin Cengkok of Pengkalan Balak, Mat Aris Raja Burong and also Haji Sotin Mohamad Ali, a well-known international figure in the world of silat and have trained the new generation of silat masters including his own son in-law, Abas Bahaman, in continuing this silat legacy and producing a number of outstanding and successful silat exponents in both the local and international silat arenas and championships to this day.
