★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Federal Land Development Authority - FELDA (Lembaga Kemajuan Tanah Persekutuan) is a government statutory authority which was formed to supposedly handle the resettlement of the poor rural settlements into newly developed areas and help in organising smallholder farms into growing cash crops, which were supposed to benefit and raise their living standards. However, since its inception the 1990s, FELDA, with its conglomerate of subsidiaries and agencies, have digressed from their initial objective of rural land development to engaging in a diversified range of economic development projects and various business activities.
Have the poor settlers benefited very much?... I personally do not know. Ask the poor settlers there to get the truthful answer.
