Update : 26 Sep 2019 - Had dinner here tonight as there were not many other places to eat - today’s meal was better, probably because we were the only customers. Ordered the salmon sashimi (it was fresh and delicious), salmon don (interesting with the addition of sweet tamago), ebi tempura (today was crispy and not floury-some parts uncooked) and tonkotsu ramen. I was happily satisfied with my meal and finished every scrap of my salmon don. Today they deserve the extra star. It was a peaceful and quiet meal this time. ? June 2019 : Came here with high expectations, given the wonderful reviews, but was disappointed. For a Japanese Restaurant to run out of salmon is appalling. And when we ordered the ramen, the waitress came back after 5 minutes to say there was no more ramen so could we take udon or soba instead. We agreed to take one of each and let me tell you, soba is best eaten cold, not in hot soup. Soba in hot soup tastes like cardboard (yes I HAVE tasted cardboard) - soggy and tasteless. The saving grace for Takenoko is that the hamachi sashimi I ordered was fresh and presented beautifully. We also ordered the prawn tempura, which had a crispy outer coating but was sadly floury inside (perhaps taken out a wee bit too early from the oil?) But the prawns were also fresh. You might want to give the Ramen a complete miss. Having tasted the soup from proper Ramen restaurants, I know Takenoko’s soup has NOT been boiled with pork bone and chicken for hours, and the milky colouring of the soup comes from, well, MILK. The soup base was incredibly thin and overly salty, and let me reiterate that Soba does NOT go well in ramen soup. It was not a good representation of ramen soup at all. Again, what saved THIS dish was their chashu - it was delicious soft, and not overly salted. All in all, the food is adequate, the ambience would have been a lot better if the China National kid wasn’t in the restaurant as he was quite vocal and it made for an uncomfortable dining experience for me.

From the top 3 Japanese restaurants in S2, I think this is the least that I like. The ocha is too strong. The chicken katsudon is too salty and the salad is just... terrible. Chawanmushi's egg smell is very strong, also the sushi is so-so

Service here is excellent, food is always fresh. Can get a little noisy during peak hours. Would recommend making a reservation especially during weekends.

Very nice and cozzy place. Best Japanese cuisine I've seen in seremban so far XD. Their ramen and kare udon is nice. Quite a variety of tasty makizushi in menu. Reasonable price and big portion. Environment is comfortable. Beer and liquor is available.

The maki was not packed well. Was breaking up when you pick it up. Good overall is ok . Their siew yoke is one of the best around, need to order ahead which we didn't cos we just decided to eat here

Price wise was not cheap or too expensive. Quality honestly is just average. Environment is too old and badly maintain, there is big hole at cushion. Sashimi grade was acceptable. The kushiyaki is below average, the salt and is too overdose, cover the the taste of the meat. The lady finger too old to consume. The sushi is good size bite. Why give 2 star only instead 3 or 4 as the environment and the service from the owner. Yes I am wear my cheap clothes but the way talk and leading is bad.

Surprisingly there is a Japanese restaurant that serves good food. Never know it has been open for so many years even been a seremban boy for so long. The sushi some of them are quite fresh. They have good garlic fried rice. Thier karage was crispy and flavourful. The bento they served was good and big portion. Will come back to eat again.

Very nice and peaceful environment to enjoy Japanese foods. The foods here are nice. The taste consider very Japanese. this place is very hygiene too. It doesn't accommodate alot of people here so I think there is why the food made with quality and passion. Probably will be difficult for first timer to find the shop cause it has a very dark door entrance. All the food is nice except sushi. Is not that nice.
