Don't expect 5 star hotel from TARUC hostel. The facilities here are very basic. The buildings are very old and doesn't look nice. Here are things that you need to know: 1. No cooking allowed. Your only choice is canteen food, or you can order food delivery or eat instant food. 2. No hot water for shower. My advise is only shower in hot afternoon or don't shower at all. Hot drinking water is provided. 3. No choice of room. If you have weird or hard to deal with roommate, speak to the office. 4. Theft often happens. Common ones are stealing nice clothes, but computers or panties/bra theft have occurred before. 5. No wifi in rooms. Only public wifi in canteen and study rooms. Get your own data package. 6. No air-conditioning. Sometimes the rooms can get really hot based on the weather. Unless you want to rent rooms at ground floor. It's slightly more expensive. 7. No elevator. So if you are given room at top floor, good luck. Refer to 3. Of course there are benefits for staying in hostel. 1. You no longer have to worry about the mysterious TARUC bus for not appearing (at all), so attending classes on time is not a problem. 2. Security is quite strict. You are safe here. Except for petty theft because they don't have CCTV in the dorms. 3. Very quiet and comfortable environment for studying. I like the trees and birds chirping. People are not as loud / crowded compared to PV. 4. Clean environment. Cleaners clean toilet once or twice a day (surprise to say the toilet is cleaner than my house's). They collect garbage from the hallway for us and swept the floor and staircase sometimes. We have to clean our own rooms. 5. Helpful management. Whenever the toilet broke or the drinking fountain broke, report to the management immediately. They often call for maintenance immediately and fix it on the same day. Very efficient In short, if you came to TARUC to study, then staying in hostel is a good choice. But if you came here to enjoy life then this is not the place for you.

Not the worst place but at the same time not the best place to live. The advantage I would said is u do not need to wait for bus

Very unhygienic location, bad WiFi and unmaintained pantry. The staff are very arrogant, rude and bureaucratic and see students as nothing but a flock of sheep's for them to boss around. Some staff frequently harass students who are practicing SOP perfectly, by breaking SOP themselves to harass and give rude comments. I would suggest people to not live here if you're not used to living in an uncomfortable, unwelcoming, and hostile environment.

All about TARUC hostel. I was stayed here for my 1 year 1 semester studies, this hostel is quite good. 1. They provided shared room, normally you get roommates from different faculty as your roommates, so you can have your privacy time. 2. The all block toilet will be cleaned nearly every day by maids, so to speak it is clean but shower room are not that nice looking. 3. The hostel staff are really not very friendly. On my check in day, I traveled myself with all luggage via cab. I also had double-printed all the document, like bank payment proof, my ID, my parents ID proof and the followed all instruction. When it's I my turn to meet their hostel office, their staff were not even wanna look into eyes and not even reply to my greeting ( it a rushing day for 'em and I'm totally cool with it ), she checked all my document and asked me to re-print one of my doc because it should be vertical layout, as this instruction not even stated previously. It only a sheet of paper. TARUC is a new place for me and I travel by cab (the cab has been for me outside with my luggage for a long time), so I asked her can print here or printing shop next to the office, she didn't tolerate for anything and insisted me to go to campus Red Brick CafΓ© to print. And I did. That being said, it all chaos day for me because I don't know Red brick CafΓ© in the first place, but thanks for those people me navigated me along the way and of course to my kind cab driver who willingly drove from hostel to campus, back and forth, and waited extra 45 minutes without extra charge. 4. We've two stall here, Malay and the Chinese food is served. I had tried almost all the menus in both stall. The Malay stall here served kinda of decent breakfast (nasi lemak, mee, delicacy) and lunch (typical nasi campur&etc), but normally I don't prefer having my dinner here because it all 'goreng goreng'. Meanwhile, for Chinese stall served good breakfast (mihun, fried rice &etc)and excellent lunch. Lunch here always amazing but not so much for dinner. But nothing can beat food in the campus with such variety with really delicious. I'll you recommend to try their chicken rendang with nasi lemak in Yum Yum CafΓ© from "Malaysia food' stall. Sometimes, I will order food delivery for my dinner or having lunch menus for my dinner, if available. 5. By the way, hostel management don't provide mop and broom, we need buy on our own, I actually donate mine there. Pro tips: 1. Please buy stretchable bucket (for carry shower essential), not that hard around plastic bucket. If you need 'em 2. Laundry bag is relativity easy to carry move around, must buy one. 3. Try take early shower in the morning, less traffic. 4. Discuss with your roommates for your room cleaning rooster. 5. Do not bring any people into your room. If anything gone missing, it gonna be trouble for both of you. 6. Even your roommates cool with you, do not gathering together with your friends in room play mobile game, it is really noisy for others. 7. Mattress are given, so please bring own bed sheet (double sheet is better), blanket and pillow. *** All these pictures were taken during Feb 2020, I think probably this how gonna look like even next year.

Was here, the place is meh. Only credit this place gets is a good hangout place. Canteen ceiling fans are not sufficient, table arrangement is not optimal for good ceiling fan usage, the fans might as well be cooling the floor. Not enough plugs for the amount of computers per table. Canteen food is alright, not the best but fills your stomach Bathrooms, last time I went was in 2019, were dirty and old. Needs renovation. Secondary and Primary school toilets are almost on par with uni bathrooms, think about that. I hope they have since I left. Security is iffy and varies. Pray the guard at the real entrances do their job properly, if the guard can't see you enter or not there, then you can sneak in. Security is minimal at best. Internet coverage is limited to the canteen only. The rooms themselves do not have wifi coverage.
