★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Thistle used to be the crown jewel of the area and the coveted staying place for anyone from outside the town. But I guess they are just trying to recover post-Covid-19 restrictions. The place is a little bit run-down and the hotel’s furnishings need a refreshing addition. Not hopeless, but need some serious re-work to be on the competitive edge again.

Appalling and poor experience since the start I walk into the hotel:
1. I was told to wait at the sofa and waited very long to check in. The system apparently was down the entire lobby area was humid and hot. Probably saving electricity?
2. There wasn’t remote control for TV in the room. One light wasn’t working and we’ve fixed it on our own as the switch is wrong.
3. I requested for bowls and plates to be sent to the room and didn’t came all. So, finished my meal without bowls and plates delivered.
4. Asked for bath gels, towels and bottled mineral waters but took quite a while to deliver…
5. Front office staffs carries a very lackadaisical attitude in serving their customers. When urged them, they said its beyond their capabilities.
6. There are baby cockroaches around the room and inside the toilet. Very turn off…
Probably will not recommend and consider this hotel for their hotel service after reopening….

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Should avoid @ the moment. Hotel was very run down and short staffed. To be fair most of them were friendly and trying their best but .... Room was dusty and sheets were dirty when I checked in. House keeping was pretty non existent. Car park was badly managed no guards or anything gantry. Only thing good was the location

Very nice atmosphere, good selection of local and western dishes. Actually, if you're looking for a date spot, come here. It's pretty nice.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Used to be my favourite stay. Now totally run down. Rooms were infested with cockroaches and dirty. Holes on the roof inside the room. Finally settled in a room with no roaches after going through 3 floors of rooms checking out at least 10 rooms but the room was so dirty. Blankets and pillow and carpet were stained. Windows dirty. Curtains dusty and piles of dirt behind window. Toilet dirty and hair everywhere. Towels so bad condition with stains. Telephone was not working in any of the room. Breakfast was horrible. Sticky floor all over the dining area and there were no one else there, dirty tables, dirty plates and cutlery, glasses with hand prints. Extremely disappointed and will never recommend. Not worth the 4 star rating. I will not even give it 1 star. When I spoke to the staffs, they were all aware of the horrible state of the hotel. They have already received so many complaints from guests. Apparently they have told the owners but it falls on deaf ears. God help them. It was a nightmare. Only managed to take a few photos as I was too disgusted soon after.
Note: When I say infested, I really mean it. Not 1 or 2 roaches but more than 20 easily in every room. Various sizes. All over the room.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Stayed here from 30 April to 2 May. Overall the hotel needs a good overall maintenance. The four stars are for the staff members who had been taking all the complains and trying their best to make our stay comfortable.
Please upgrade the hotel and hire back a good team.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The hotel lobby was a bit dark n wasn't so welcoming. The check in wasn't as smooth as they nearly admitted that they lost our booking. We weren't offered of any other room service but the housekeeping person has told us off that we should make an order during counter check in earlier. The room lobby was also a bit gloomy. We booked 3 rooms in total. One of the rooms didn't have a complete toiletries n the toilet wasn't as clean as the other 2. The bed wasn't as big as other hotel but still cozy I guess. The breakfast time was chaos. The hotel management failed to cater space according to the number of hotel guests ended up hotel guests went back to their hotel room n came back 2 hrs later. Not many variations on the menu portion n the foods are a bit salty tho. Overall, it wasn't so satisfying trip we had.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Went for buffet lunch on Sunday, the price is affordable. The food was delicious. Hopefully in future there will be more variety of menu. Kudos to the waiter named Raj, he aware that I bring my daughter and give the fish food for my kid. Keep my kid entertain by giving the fish food. And also two waitress at cashier counter, giving candy to my kid. I love when the staff aware that we bring the kid and know how to keep them entertain. Small things but we feel warm. Definitely will come back.
