I am currently a 3rd year student, in which I would say with 3 years experience studying at UTAR and also being a part of many exciting activities that UTAR conducts from time to time for their students, I would say it's really a privilege studying in such a great university. The culture at UTAR is really exciting to learn, in which the Peer Mentoring programme (PMP) that is conducted for the freshmen for a duration of 1 month helps really much for them to learn and adapt with UTAR’s norm as well as know seniors from different faculties too. This in many ways brought me various types of friends with different personalities and talents who are also from different faculties where we have the chance to learn more on the activities conducted across other faculties too. Becoming one of the faci for the PMP programme also helped me to overcome my shyness, and from a completely introverted person, I am now a much more sociable person. Besides, the counseling unit guidance of UTAR are also really creative as they come up with exciting activities to help the students to have a great learning environment and good mental health. It feels good to have activities that soothes the brain while having a stressful week be it the midterm or the finals. Participating in activities as such boosts my confidence level as well as my willingness to strive harder to score higher marks. Not just that, as we are currently facing the pandemic, UTAR handled it pretty well even before which eased the students to adapt to online learning mode faster through the UTAR Innovative e-Learning and Web-Based Learning Environment (WBLE). I could easily download my lecture notes, view any announcements made by lecturers or even gain more knowledge with the interactive side of the WBLE after lecture sessions too. Overall, I am satisfied with the service provided by UTAR to me over the years. I am also looking forward to furthering my education at UTAR after my bachelors degree too. This is because UTAR is always the best choice I made 3 years ago when I walked in to register.

I’m currently a year 2 student, taking a Bachelor of Building and Property. Just like most of my friends, I spent almost 98% of my uni life in my own sweet home. But you know, you can either choose to complain everyday about the pandemic/ mco/ online learning/ etc., or you make the most out of whatever resources or opportunities provided by the university during this critical situation. This whole online learning thing really isn’t easy. Especially when we are not able to physically attend classes and access the uni’s facilities. But I would like to take this opportunity to thank UTAR for what they have provided us to make our online study experience easier. Also, the UTAR lecturers truly deserve a shoutout. They put so much effort into making the lectures and tutorials interesting, not to mention some of them are aged and are struggling to use electronic devices for teaching. Anyway, if I were to say, studying in UTAR was the best choice I’ve ever made.

Almost 2 years into my journey at UTAR and all I can say is that everything is very down-to-earth here. Although there are not many students in my course, the lecturers never slack off. Staff are also responsive to queries - I once had to secure an internship document for submission the next day and they helped me speed through it. Though many say that the facilities at UTAR can be improved, I personally think that it’s very reasonable for the price that we’re paying; plus, the University has a lot of access to different academic journals & databases (bless JSTOR & Bloomberg), which is crucial for us Economics students. Overall, I really appreciate the efforts that the lecturers and staff put in and I’d say learning at UTAR is indeed one of the best choices I’ve ever made.

I have finished my foundation studies and am currently studying software engineering. Having studied in UTAR for more than a year, I can say that I am very satisfied, especially with the lecturers. They are helpful and willing to provide assistance even outside of their consultation hours. They are passionate and always make sure the students understand what has been taught. The overall management is great too. The staff are responsive in replying to emails, answering my questions and also guiding me through whatever that I am not sure of. It is true that UTAR provides affordable education, while not sacrificing on quality. As a Sarawakian, I am glad that I have made the right choice to study here.

I am writing this as an alumni. I'm very frustrated, I'm very busy, OT all days. I'm not free like the administrative utar staff. I cannot pay the convocation fees on time, I ask whether any other solution, but they insist me to I pay on time and the staff have a bad attitude. What makes me more frustrating is the staff who communicate with me was that the staff called me last time and asked about my career status, her tone is like blaming me for not to update the status, PLEASE NOT EVERYONE SO FREE AS YOU. *Note Not only this staff, usually some staff in this university they have an attitude like they are better than anyone, in fact, they are just being Narcissistic and egotism.
