Good Hailam style dishes. Lunch is only served after 1 pm. Everything is prepared from scratch and only if you have time for some 30 minutes wait. Pau is available daily but limited in quantity. You have to preorder to avoid disappointment. If you are willing to wait the chicken chop and Hailam mee is worth the wait. Roti bakar however is quite available readily. So come early, take a table and place your order. Use the time waiting to observe the leisurely pace of times gone by or catch up with your group with conversation about the almost unchanged 50-60 years of decor and furnishings.

Overall ambience: Old building but well maintained. Overall cleanliness: A (clean floor) Overall food: Hainanese (limited choices) Personal opinion: Nice toast and steam bread ? (Kaya + Butter) Nice coffee Chicken chop - a little disappointed due to the flour and chicken proportion.. nice gravy

My favourite is their kopi o peng! And their pau too . The pau dough is so soft & it reminds me the olden days recipe, but do come early cos their pau sells fast everyday! The noodles & chicken chop are good too.. the ambiece are rustic , laid back in the colonial era shop houses.. it is clean ! Ample parkibg behind the coffee shop. Weekends can be packed so come early.

The hainanese coffee was tasty. Very thick even for the iced one (very sweet). The western meals were pricey for a small town, but the beef steak was very soft and easy to chew. Overall okay food. Their beef Pau had to be ordered before hand. They start selling it at 2.30 so we had lunch and also collected the Pau. Attached is the menu for prices.

The old school flavors that has everyone wanting for more. It came highly recommended by a colleague who used to study in Malay College and patronizes the place every time he is Kuala Kangsar. The baos are extremely soft and flavorful. The chicken chop is as original as you can get to a Hainanese version and it’s so delicious that one isn’t enough. Mee Hailam was just as good.

Went back to this coffee shop the the sultan baos. The baos are filled with beef curry. Bun was soft and hot. But the filling is much lesser compared to many years back. Sultan Bao cost RM3.50/piece now. Can try. ?

Due to pandemic, it's a pity they do not offer dine-ins anymore. Came to takeaway their paus. The beef curry is the best among the four types of paus.
