★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We went to this place in Summer 2019.
A good place to visit and learn about Malacca in particular, and Malaysia in general. It was quite a walk so be prepared, especially during hot summer.
It was pretty crowded even though we went during lunch time. Free admission is a plus, we had a tour guide from Klook so it was very helpful to understand the place.
You should prepare your own water or you can buy in front of the entrance.
Overall good place to visit while in Malacca

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ One of the ruins/remains of the early Christian community that lived in Melaka in the 1500s. On weekdays when there's less people, the place is quiet, serene. As it is on top of a hill, the views around this place is quite amazing.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Located on top of a hill, not far from the Staduys and A Farmosa, this used to be a former chapel built by the Portuguese and subsequently upgraded over time. This is the oldest church building on Southeast Asia. Although there is nothing much inside except for Dutch gravestones, it is still worth a visit to understand and get a feel of early colonialism.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Absolutely unique historical place with great view on the city, if you’re in Melaka, you have to visit it. A bit hard to get there, because the only way on top is stairs

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The ruins of St. Paul's church stand at the summit of St. Paul's hill near the remains of A Famosa fortress.
It was built in 1521 by Duarte Coelho in gratitude to the Virgin Mary for saving his life in the South China sea.
The church is renowned as the place where the body of Francis Xavier, the pioneering Catholic missionary of Southeast Asia, was laid to rest for a period of eight months after his death at sea.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A very old, now abandoned and defunct church build build during the Colonial
era by the Portuguese and the Dutch. There are a lot of tombstones inside the compound. Do come during weekdays when there is less people and more quiet to enjoy the view. The statue of St Xavier and the old lighthouse is also in front of the church.
